Honeymoon Registry? Anyone doing this or is This Tacky?

Honeymoon Registry? Anyone doing this or is This Tacky?

Just would like to get everyone's feedback on the Honeymoon Registry's that I've heard of. Rather than registering for home appliances and things like that, your guests can contribute money to your honeymoon. Is this kinda tacky?

I may ir may not do it, but I don't think it's tacky! it's new and it's different, butit's catching on really fast and it's really cool!

Honestly, I think it's a GREAT idea. I'd certainly rather get something for my honeymoon than a dish I'll never use!

ALOT of people think this is tacky. I am kind of border line I guess for couples who live together and have everything but dont have the extra $$ they would like to use on a nice hm its great. The only thing is at your shower what would you open? lol that leaves like 50% of the shower with nothing to do..

i think it is a great idea... especially if you already live together and don't nee da regular registry...
the last wedding i was at everyone was raving about what a neat idea it was

I think it is a great idea. The only problem is that people usually buy gifts closer to the wedding so u might have a problem paying for the trip. Maybe u can register for spa treatments wherever u decide to go.

I think this is a fabulous idea whose time is not quite here yet as long as the items on the list are not airfare and hotel expenses. I think they should be for room service breakfast, gift baskets, tours, spa services, etc.

IMO, a little tacky.
But that's just me.
Some of the older guests may find it tacky, as a shower is traditionally meant to help you set up house for you and new hubby, not pay for your vacation.

But, times are different. Do what you like!

Tacky (IMO)

totally tacky. no better than asking for money. I wouldn't contribute to it. I'd probably give a toaster to anyone who wrote this on a invite

i think it's a great idea. the goal is to get somthing you really need/want.

i live with FW for 6 yrs now. we already have a lot of stuff we wanted. why should i resgister for stuff i already have?

I'm not sure how I feel about it, I kinda feel it's very obvious that you need money for the honeymoon and therefore 'tacky', but then again, these days everything is getting so practical and I think there is some positive feedback to this, maybe people will really feel like they are giving you something really worthwhile.

I am registered at Liberty Travel, Macys and Target. We got a great response. People seemed to love it and for those that don't they have other options. What is the difference between registering and telling people what gifts you want and telling people you need help to spend a great week with your FH. I think both are pretty tacky IMO, but you've got to do what you've got to do. You don't just have to put money down, you can resister for excursions. People can say I paid for them to ride a bike in a volcano. I think thats pretty cool.

I would always rather give someone something that they wanted or needed, and if that was their honeymoon, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I registered at TheHoneymoon.com and everyone I have told thinks it is a great idea. I thing it is a new and creative gift giving registery. We don't need a toaster, or blender or......but we could use a great honeymoon and I hope people use it!

ditto, although i myself would never flat out ask for anything... as of now i don't plan on registering (some of my BM's and friends are giving me a hard time about this so we'll see), and by word of mouth through family and friends we will let it be known that we are saving for a down payment on a home and a contribution to that would be wonderful...
