i have been debating for the past week as to whether or not we should go to tahiti...i'm really bummed b/c i don't know what to do (especially with all that may be going on in the next few months)...i know there was a similar post about honeymoons and war...but i wanted to hear your opinions on going to tahiti now....do you think it is safe??? we are getting married in september...if we don't go to tahiti--our next option is hawaii...

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
just so you know, most travel insurance policies don't cover acts of war or terrorism.

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
i am going to tahiti the end of june for my hm. but i agree w/ matt and a few others on this board that you will be safer in tahiti then you would be here in the U.S or even NY. we are still going. you have to continue to live your life and not let these a******* win! Thats what they want.

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
I agree with Matt about Tahiti being a province of France, and being a safe place to be.
In fact, with all this horrible news lately, I'm considering packing up my son and my hubby and hanging out back in Tahiti for awhile...I need to get away from all the negative stuff, and just soak up the sun!

RLIVINGS:
I COME TO THIS BOARD FOR WEDDING TALK, I KIND OF ESCAPE THE THOUGHT OF WAR ON HERE. I COME HERE WITH HAPPY WEDDING THOUGHTS! IF SOMEONE WANTS TO POST ABOUT IT THATS FINE, AND IT'S ALSO FINE THAT I RESPONDED!!!!!!!! I NEVER SAID ANYTHING NEGATIVE!
THANKS MATTHOS
THE DRAMA STARTS WHEN OTHERS PINPOINT WHAT OTHERS SAY.

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
We are going to Bora Bora for HM and I just had this conversation with someone about war. He said either we are going or we are not. We can't change it once it happens. I'm still going to go to Bora Bora if I can. FH and I do not want to live in fear.

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
I should have went with my first instincts which was not to post anything because I knew this kind of thing would happen. Many of the girls say that you can post your opinions, everyone is entitled to their opinion etc but from this experience, I have seen that it just isn't the case and for that, I am sad.
I am sorry if my concerns about the war in Iraq are clouding anyone's happy wedding thoughts. I expect that I will be shunned from the boards now by some. So be it.
For the girls who have concerns about the War as it affects their honeymoon, wedding, life what have you....feel free to post about it. These boards are not 'run' or dictated by anyone but LIWeddings. In the past, I have received very helpful information and tried to give some when I felt I had something to offer. I wanted fellow brides' opinions as to what they would do in my shoes and look at what it became.
That's really too bad. For those with such harsh reactions towards my posts, you should try to see things through other peoples eyes from time to time. I hope that those of us with family members in Kuwait and other places abroad that will be unable to attend our wedding in the event of a war, will be in your prayers.

What I posted originally was:
Even though it's real I hate this war talk , sorry, and that WAS ALL!!! I never said no one should not post these things. I never said anything EXCEPT I hate the talk of war because it scares me!!

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
You all win.........OK? Enough already. Who needs this?
Maybe those of us in the same boat should just send forum mail to one another. That would be much easier than what this has become. There is enough drama in the world.

Re: honeymoon (tahiti) and possibility of war
you ain't kidding! I apologize again, never meant to cause anyone grief
I don't think you should change any plans...that plays into the hands of terrorists...but insurance never hurts...
Unfortunately I saw what the September 2001 brides went through and while they were grieving in all sorts of ways...they had also planned this one day of their lives that was supposed to be the greastest (and most expensive)...and they wanted to celebrate...i think wedding planning conjurs up so many different feelings...
as the saying goes...make love, not war, but be prepared for both
