Re: Honeymoon troubles..how mauch are you spending on your honeymoon and where are you going
Originally we were planning either Hawaii or Figi and it was around $5000-$6000 inculding all...9 nights, now we are on a tighter budget and we are doing Bahamas or Aruba for $3000 all ( plus $1000-$1500 spening money) No hotels etc booked yet but plenty of offers in that range...$10, 000 for a honeymoon is a lot, thats a downpayment on ah ouse for us, or a yr's rent...for 9 days...lol?
well the thing is ....we are looking to buy a house and we are looking to put atleast $80,000 down i said to him what is $3000-4000 on a honeymoon? so instead why can't we put $75,000 down on a house
well the thing is ....we are looking to buy a house and we are putting more like $80,000 down i said to him what is $3000-4000 on a honeymoon? so we put $75,000 down on a house
i know $10,000 is alot for a honeymoon but..
Thats a different story then, if you have the money to spend, it is a once in a lifetime trip, so why not go all out.......we dont have an extra dollar....lol...so it's more to us then it would be to you....Make sure it's at least 9 days for that money though

Oh no i am sorry i didn't mean it that way... oh please we don't have the money what so ever but we will have the money from the wedding, his parents are giving us a VERY generous gift and we wont be buying a house until we have that money to put down because we wouldn't be able to afford the mortgage payments... i jsut mean it is a once in a life time trip but ...it is hard to explain.. i said we would just take the gift from his parents and use it for our honeymoon because it wasn't ours to begin with ...am i making sense?
yes...lol...you are making sense....and believe me, I agree I would go for it, I wish we had the extra, and if we did, I think I would go for the trip, especially because it's a once in a lifetime thing....If it's a difference of putting $20000 down vs say $5000 then Id say no-wy but if you have that much to put down, then go on the trip.... Hope that makes more sense...
We spent about $12,000 total on our honeymoon. I was shocked when we got home and added it all up and even a little mad, because that was a lot towards a house, but when I looked back on our HM at pics and video, I wouldn't trade it in for the world. I would do it again. We took a trip of a lifetime that we won't get to do again until we probably retire!!
It sounds like you have the money to spare (in terms of 80,000 versus 75,000). If I were in your position, I would take the extra $5,000 and go on a more extravagant HM - JMO

no money to spare.. he is switching jobs hopefully next year a nd i am in the middle of looking for a teaching job but these days if you don't put that much down on a house..you end up with a $4000 mortgage payment... we have money saved up and will wait till we have that much even if it is in 5 years from now..who knows
We are going to the Radisson Cable Beach all inclusive option is costing us about 2400.00 total. We are in contract for a house and paying for the wedding by ourselves so we compromised and this is what we came up with.

Maybe you can compromise?? can you go to tahiti or fiji for a shorter amount of time to cut back the price?? or go someplace a little cheaper for longer?? I know everyone is different but I see it as a vacation comes and goes in the blink of an eye a house is forever Besides I would have a great time with FH on our honeymoon wherever we wind up going

we were looking at books tonight and it didn't seem THAT bad but after everything i am sure it will be over!!! i just see it as once in a lifetime chance yes a house is forever... this is what i Should be thinking about ...THANK YOU
I am also of the opinion that it is a once in a lifetime trip. This has actually been the hardest choice for us- and caused the most disagreement. I have contemplated most places in the world to travel to, and in the end, i think that we have finally settled on Australia. It will cost us about 10,000 when all is said and done, so I am going through all the same emotions over this as you.
FH and I both agree we want to go all out on our HM - we are going to Bora Bora- Our view is that chances are - we are only going to get a chance to do it once - because we are going to get busy with saving for a home and hopefully kids- we just dont want Bora Bora -to be a dream we wished we had done ...

We are going on a cruise to Hawaii for 15 days. With spending money it came out to about 7,000 dollars. We were extremely lucky to have air miles from my parents so we don't have to pay for the flight.
My opinion is to look at the trip in the scheme of things. Will you have a chance to go to Tahiti/Fiji anytime soon? How long would you have to wait to get a house if you went on this trip. You should do what makes you happy but think about overall what makes the most sense. Good luck!
thats the thing!!! we will never go!! next is the house... then kids.. then we have to wait till they are old although a cruise to hawaii for 15 days sounds hmmmm... evr very nice!! we are going to look into hawaii too
