FH & I have been talking about the honeymoon a lot recently. i would love to go to Hawaii. FH doesn't really care where we go but he is responsible for paying. he looked up prices the other day & said its expensive. i understand that its expensive but since we first started dating (9 years ago) we have never gone on a big vacation. we have gone to my parents upstate, his aunts house upstate, & once we went to Boston. i think splurging on Hawaii for our honeymoon is perfectly fine. but i am open to suggestions.
so, where are other honeymoon destinations???

FYI - About Hawaii, I've been told by many people, average price is $8-$10k....so its a lot but it all depends on what your willing to spend. And that price is for the typical 10nights, 3 islands....you can do it cheaper for 2 islands and less nights but again that's all up to you.
we were not even talking about staying that long. i think he was only looking at 6 nights.

I would tend to think splurge on the Honeymoon - after all, you should only be doing it once!! I know the airfare can be a bit steep for HI - but definitely do your research regarding both airfare/hotels and you should be able to come up with some deals. If you didn't want to travel that far - I would definitely check out some of the islands in the caribbean and also Mexico - I know there are some great deals down there!
FH and I are definitely splurging on the HM - we are going to French polynesia and Bora Bora - we figured that we will only have one honeymoon - so why not take advantage of it and go all out?
thats what i am saying. like i said to begin with we have never gone on a vacation other then local trips for a weekend. i think we deserve a really nice honeymoon.

just wherever you go, keep in mind all-inclusive resorts...i heard sandals in st lucia is great

tropical islands are less expensive. you can get all inclusive prices and still go some where beautfil. Maybe you should wait until an anniversary and go to Hawaii... we wanted to go but can;t afford it.

ARUBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for an all inclusive week at a resort i think we paid around $2300 - which includes meals AND drinks!!

I love all-inclusive!! Much easier on the wallet than a cruise.

jmo - i wouldn't go to hawaii for just 6 nights, the flight alone is soooo long you are going to lose 2 days just in flying. and there is just so much to see.
i'm sure you will find something that you both will love.....maybe contact a travel agent to get some ideas. or try the honeymoon board.

We're using a Capital One Rewards card that is interest free until the month of our wedding. We are hoping to at least be able to cover one of us.

I agree you need to go somewhere good!!! It is once in a lifetime!
We travel each year to someplace... aruba, vegas, nova scotia, cruise, Martha's Vineyard, 1000 islands.... so we decided that we need this to be really exciting that is why we picked hawaii...
if you are looking for someplace that is not so costly try a cruise, or an all inclusive vacation..
my co worker signed up for a registry for her honeymoon... her guests were able to purchase her excursions... this can also bring down the price.

i agree, many people have told me that if you are going to go to hawaii you need at least 10 days because the flight alone is long. I want to look into this but i will see how much it costs.
I've been to Aruba and its beautiful so thats another place i would recommend. The Occidental and Riu are both really beautiful.

We are definitely going to go all out. We are only going on one HN so why not? We really want to go to Italy. I would love Hawaii but I hate plane rides so since Italy is closer...we'll probably go with that.
