I really want to go to the Caribbean for our honeymoon, but I really have a problem with putting a bathing suit on. To me when you think of the Caribbean, it's beach and bikini's. I haven't worn a bathing suit in over 6 years because I gained weight. I have since, lost 50 lbs., but I still refuse to put on a bathing suit. I would be so unhappy and uncomfortable, I just can't see me wearing one around all the girls in bikini's. I don't know what to do? I want to go into the water, and layout but you need to be in a bathing suit. Anyone else worried about this? I'm not worried what my FI will think, I'm just not comfortable in one AT ALL!!! :( Should I plan our honeymoon somewhere else just for that reason? HELP!!!

Honeymoon worries...
A lot of people who visit down there don't wear bikinis, although most wear bathing suits. If you are uncomfortable in a suit - just wear shorts.
How about a bathing suit with a pair of 'board shorts' over it. These are supposedly what surfers wear - I have a pair that I wear as a cover for my big butt - I usually take them off to swim but you can wear them in the water too-

If you are really that uncomfortable but want to go by the water what about renting a private villa or condo for yourselves? There are some that are on private property so that the beach would really be just for you two and it is no where near as expensive as you would think it would be. I think if you just do a search on the internet for something like 'vacation villas, caribbean' they will start popping up. :)

Trust me - Not everyone down there is skinny. I recently gained and lost a lot of weight and I was really nervous about being self conscious when I went down to Puerto Rico last month. There were plenty of people in one-piece bathing suits and I think there were more overweight people there than skinny people. I bought a bathing suit that came with shorts to go over it and I felt comfortable. Don't worry - You'll be fine!

I bought mine two years ago in Lord & Taylor - I think they were popular then. They are like a men's bathing suit only smaller and more feminine. I would see if you could find a surf shop or a bathing suit specialty shop and ask. THere are a few in the tangar outlet center. If I see them anywhere, I'll post it.
Good Luck!

If you are that worried now...
you may want to consider an alternate location. Its not so much about how to cover up (there are lots of ways) but I think if its causing you stress now, its only going to get worse.
Your honeymoon should be stress free!

What about a nice one piece suit? I just got back from Bahamas and although people are in Bikinis, alot of people where two pieces also. Not everybody is skinny skinny in the carribean and I dont think anybody cares about what the other looks like.

They sell them everywhere now, Surf Shop will definitely have them but will be more expensive. Just look in bathing suit dept of your favorite store.
I have a million pairs, I always wear with bathing suit, they are the material that drys quickly.
Also try pacific sunwear, there is one in Roosevelt field. Or in outlets, Quicksilver, Roxy etc. Or even check these sits online.
(I have them from surfshop, areopostle, quicksilver)
They even make shirts now that are like board shorts.
