FH and I do a lot of travelling and I am pretty savvy in terms of researching and booking flights/hotels on my own. We've never used a travel agent - I always scour the internet for the best prices myself.
For the FM, we're thinking Hawaii with a stop over in Vegas on the way there. And we're thinking 3 islands while we're in Hawaii. Question is - since there are going to be so many flights and hotels involved - do you think I should seek out a travel agent? The ONLY reason I would want to is if it would really help me in price. Otherwise, I love doing the research and that kind of thing on my own.
Also, for one part of the trip we'll be using FH's parents' timeshare, but it's only going to be for 3 of the nights. So I don't know if that would mean we shouldn't use the travel agent b/c he can't work around that kind of thing.
Any advice?

its really up to you! for me i wanted a travel agent..because im lazy! lol and he was able to find us the best prices, best hotels, and he was very knowledgable in our preferences and would would fit our personality..what i liked most is he's been to the places we're looking at!! so he was really able to teach us about the places in an unbiased way

i wanted to book through a travel agent so badly so that i don't have to do as much work researching the places and stuff. but i ended up reading so much on hawaii and knew exactly where i wanted to stay and do, that i pretty much booked everything on my own. oh well.

ditto... he's really good and patient. say, FH asks a lot of questions. He answered every single one of it. He will also tell you if he finds a better hotel in a discounted price. He's great!

He does like to speak with you on the phone, but alot can be done through email! And if you use your amex for the bill you get double points!!! loove him!

My FH and I are the same way about vacations, we always plan our own. For our honeymoon we are going to Austrailia and figured that it may be best to go through a travel agent just this time since it's a big country and we want to get a lot done while we are there as we may not ever get over there again. It is an 18 hour flight from CA after all....
We went to Liberty Travel in Garden City and met with Kelly Brennan. She was so helpful and we have an amazing trip planned because of her. She custom made a tour for us to do on our own and took care of every detail. Basically she gave us some tour books and said to treat them like wish books. We picked activities from the random tours that appealed to us and she put it together in a tour for us. Very stress free and we are making the most of our time there.
