hoopskirt vs. peddicoat

hoopskirt vs. peddicoat

I really need help with this.

My dress is in my albums.

The dress needs to be greatly shortened - but it looks like if I had something underneath to puff it out more, I wouldn't need too much taken off....it has a lot of detail on the bottom.

What should I do? The dress has material underneath it, but it really doesn't make it come up too much.

ETA: I really don;t know the different between the 2 undergarments, you can tell how much i like to dress up.

I wore a peddicoat style slip. I would have been much cooler had I gotten the hoopskirt but I actually like the look of the crinoline and tulle underneath the dress. Plus, my dress was heavier on one side than the othe rso the hoop didn't lay evenly. Although Gina (futuremrskuhene) wore the same dress with a hoopskirt and didn't have that problem.

It's really all just personal preference. I would try them both on at the bridal salon and see which you like better

ETA: I wore a crinoline slip... thanks Megan for clearing it up.. I had them confused too

hoop skirt and petticoat are basically the same thing,
a crinolin skirt is slightly different.

hoop skirt

petticoat

crinoline

a hoop skirt/ petticoat is fuller.
crinoline is more or less a slip with tulle.

Hmm, how do the size charts work? are they adjustable? I don't want to sound like an idiot here, but it's true; I haven't a clue how this works and I wanted to get away with getting one off ebay or amazon because I'm seriously tapped out.

I got mine on ebay. for under $40.
and I love it.

I have a 4 hoop, I was scared it wouldn't be 'full enough' but I wanted an adjustable waist. 5 and 6 hoops only come as drawer string.

how full do oyu want your dress? I'm saying you need at least a 3 or 4 hoop.
if you go on ebay and type in 3 hoop (or 4 hoop) petticoat they'll come up, just read the description on measurements.

they can cut the bottom.. if its too long.

not to full, but full enough so that the seamstress doesn't have to take apart my dress to shorten it....I have lots of detail at the bottom, and I kinda wouldn't mind if it was a little full, I hope to do this once in my life, and I think it would be elegant of me. heh.
