Hope Chests
Does anyone have a hope chest? My poppa really wants to get me one. (That was what my nana intended on getting me before she passed away). I am having a hard time finding one. Can anyone help me out?

Re: Hope Chests
My hope chest is made by Lane. I guess they have to be good name brand to make something that has lasted that long!
My grandmother was going to throw it out, but I rescued it. Patrick refinished it, and it's just beautiful. My grandmother isn't in good health, and may not be around too much longer, so it means so much to me to have something of hers. She also gave me her beautiful brass bed when she moved into her nursing home, and I have it set up in my guest room along with the hope chest. She loves seeing her things restored to their original beauty, and it makes me happy to see her so happy.

Re: Hope Chests
My mom got me one for Christmas last year. She went to an antique dealer in CT. I would definitely check out antique places for one.

Re: Hope Chests
I don't have an actual 'hope chest' but one of my aunt's has been giving me gifts (Christmas, etc) 'for my hope chest' since I was about 16! She's very old fashioned and now I really appreciate her thoughtfullness over the years. I have some beautiful vases and linens that I would never have bought for myself. The Lane chests are really pretty tho.

Re: Hope Chests
I got a Lane hope chest from my Dad and Stepmother for my shower. It is beautiful. It is an heirloom piece. I have it at the end of my bed.

Re: Hope Chests
I'd highly recommend Lane chests. I've had one since I was a baby (christening gift from Godparents). It has survived years of us kids climbing in it, on it, hiding toys inside, etc. They can be pricey, but well worth it.

Re: Hope Chests
I thought that is what a hope chest was. But why give it at a bridal shower and things. That is what I dont understand.
