is anyone going back home the night of your wedding? FH and i wanted to get a hotel room for the night of our wedding since we're not leaving until a few days after for our honeymoon. however now, an extra $300 for a few hours doesnt seem like a good idea. anyone else going straight home? is it bad luck?

The only reason FH and I are getting a hotel room the night after our wedding is because we won't have a place to stay except his mother's apartment the month of August! (we're moving in mid-August) If you are close enough to your home and you don't have children or friends running around, I say do it. That $300 could be better spent :)
Going to stay at hotel, I want to see all of my family and friends that are coming from out of town for as long as possible.
I would LOOOOVE to go home, but our home is in Jersey! A bit too much of a trek for us!

We're staying at a hotel since Westbury Manor gave us a comp room at the Hyatt. I booked a couple of rooms for some family who requested to stay at the same hotel as well.

We will be staying at a hotel.
We are getting married at the holiday inn and they give us a comp. bridal suite to stay in also some OOT guest are staying at the hotel so it would be nice to see them
We are staying at the Glen Cove Mansion which is close to where we are having our reception.
We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Islip. We did a room block here and plan on having an after party at the hotel bar.
We're going home. By time we would get to the hotel, then have to check out, it wouldn't be worth it for us. Plus we have to leave for the honeymoon by 5pm the next day and I can't imagine the stress of not being home for last minute packing.
There aren't bars at either of the hotels we blocked rooms at, so if guests want to party after the reception we will hang out with them but then go home since our house is only minutes away.
We will be staying at a hotel :) with all of our bridal party, some family and friends :)

If u aren't blocking any rooms and no OOT guests,,,then going home would be fine! I don't think spending the $300 is worth it if no one else is staying with u at the hotel. I think that was ur question??
