How far in advance should I look to block rooms for my November 2010 wedding?

I'm not really sure how far in advance. I heard about 8 to 10 months. I'm sure you don't have to do it that far in advance for some hotels. My wedding is 8 months away and I'm planning on blocking hotel rooms by the end of next month.

I put a block on rooms already and I will be getting married AUG 2010 (I figga the sooner the better, one less thing to deal with later on)

I was only able to book a year in advance; we have a lot of OOT'ers so the sooner the better

Thanks...we are trying to get as much done as possible....before I go back to work in September. I love doing wedding things and can't wait to do everything!

do it about a year before since you're getting married around the holidays...

I did it in May and, believe it or not, they already had a block for the same weekend for another wedding.
