Hotel Block

Hotel Block

Just called a place for hotel block - I have to give them 80% deposit for the rooms I block! If all the rooms don't get booked, the deposit becomes non refundable

Is this the norm?

There are plenty that don't hold you financially responsible for rooms that aren't booked, at least in the area that I was looking

I just went to a wedding at East Wind this past weekend. We stayed at the hotel indigo in Riverhead. It was nice.

what about the best western near the outlets?

Re: Hotel Block

Don't give them your credit card info!

All 3 of my hotel blocks will just release the rooms not booked a month before the wedding.

Re: Hotel Block

that best western is now holiday inn - and they are the ones requiring the deposit!

I'll look into hotel indigo - Thanks!

Edit - I stand corrected - the best western is now Hotel Indigo. I'm on the phone with them now.

That sounds Shaddy dont do it. the Fox hollow you have to only garuntee 60% 80 $ is a lot!

Re: Hotel Block

I heard of some hotels doing that before, but if I were I would search around for other hotels because a lot don't charge you for the rooms to be blocked and if any rooms not booked under the block, you won't be penalized.

Re: Hotel Block

Some places do that...Our hotel didnt ask for any $ at all.. they started the block with 10 rooms and said once they are filled they will add more to the block... We don't have to come up with any $ and if the rooms arent used they get released 48 hours before the wedding

That is bull****

I did not have to put any money down for the marriott in islandia.

I did put money down for east wind though...but NOT 80%!!!!

Re: Hotel Block

Was it east wind that told you that or another hotel??

I am booked at east wind too but I did not need to leave 80% for the rooms! OMG thats a lot. We blocked off 20 rooms at the hotel and I think all we put down was around $200.

If its another hotel can you Fm and let me know so I dont call them!

I am also getting married at East Wind. I looked into hotels in the area and found varying prices and stipulations. Hotel Indigo was good because they hold the block til a certain date, then simply let go of rooms you don't use -- no fee beyond that. Call and ask to speak to Lauren.

Don't do it!!! I'm not putting any money down!!! Mine is at the Marriott at the Nassau Coliseum. Whatever rooms don't get booked just go back into their inventory for other guests to book.
