I am also getting married at East Wind. I looked into hotels in the area and found varying prices and stipulations. Hotel Indigo was good because they hold the block til a certain date, then simply let go of rooms you don't use -- no fee beyond that. Call and ask to speak to Lauren.
We just booked a block at that Holiday Inn Express in Riverhead and we had to commit to 10 rooms from the block of 20. But we didn't even have to give our credit card # to them. And this is for 4th of July weekend. That seems odd they told you that!
I spoke to a lot of hotels and never heard that. We got 10 room for 'free' as part of the block. If they werent booked, no responsibility. If we blocked over that and they were not booked then we were responsible for a percentage!
NO WAY! Don't give them anything... that's ridiculous! I booked a block at Hotel Indigo and they didn't ask for a penny! Take a look there... I worked with Lauren and she was great!!

How is Hotel Indigo? I have not been inside but from the website it looks really nice.
