Hotel Block

So I am working on doing a hotel block and I have contacted 3 hotels. One of them told me that I have to guarantee 80% of the rooms I book otherwise I am responsible for them. I think this is crazy! Did anyone else get this from their hotel? Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook or Hotel Indigo in Riverhead?? Any reviews? Thanks ladies. I never knew blocking off rooms would be a hassle.

I actually contacted Kleinfeld Hotel Blocks. They did all the work for me, got the prices from all the nearby hotels, emailed me the contract and I signed and emailed back. It was so easy and less stressful for me. It's a free service, you just go to their website and fill out some info and they contact you.

On another note, hotel indigo is more expensive, the rooms are smaller and there aren't really any amenities. I'd leave that as a last resort.

I am responsible for 70% of the rooms. I think it's nuts but it's the nicest hotel around this area so I had to do it. We also have to pay for the shuttle which I think is BS but whatever

We only had to guarantee rooms if we wanted to block more than 25 rooms, for both hotels we looked at. But they also said if we were close to hitting that number we could expand our block later so we didn't end up guaranteeing anything.

We didn't have to guarantee any % of the rooms we booked. But we needed to have more than 10 booked to get the shuttle. Luckily our 20 room block is already at 16. If we hit 20 then they add 5 rooms at a time.

I looked into it at the marriott in farmingdale and it was great bc there was no financial obligation for me and fh. They give you ten rooms on hold & if they're not booked up a month prior to the wedding, they release them to the general public.
