Hotel Block Help!
I am trying to do a block for the night before the wedding and the night of since it is an afternoon wedding and a lot of people are coming from upstate. We are having both or ceremony and reception at the Mansion at Timber Point in Great River, NY.We looked at several hotels around that area and narrowed it down to the Hilton Garden Inn near MacArthur airport, the Courtyard Marriott in Ronkonkoma, and the Mrriott Springville Suites in Brookhaven.
They all have pluses and minuses, and what I will say is that none of them have a big suite where I can get ready. I have a really small bridal party so that is not the biggest deal, but a little annoying none the less. The Hyatt offered bigger suites, but at a higher rate as well, and we weren't so thrilled with the Hyatt overall.
Now, the Springhill suites were $179 a night, breakfast included. All rooms are suites and were pretty nice. They do not have a bar, but for $250 we can rent out a room which has doors to the outside area with chairs and a firepit and bring our own alcohol and food for as long as we want. This room is right next to the lobby with the TV and things.
Courtyard Marriot was $129 a night, breakfast not included. We can have the guests pay a la carte for breakfast, or if we have 20 people or more have a private room and pay $19.95 a person for breakfast. They do have a bar and a bistro restaurant that is open until 11pm with an outside tented sitting area with a fire pit and couches. We cannot bring our own food or alcohol and would have to purchase their somewhat limited menu. They also have a sitting area with a big screen tv.
The Hilton Garden Inn, probably the most quaint of the 3, is $139 a night, buffett breakfast in the morning with made to order omelets is $15 per person. They do have a bar which closes at 10pm. They are willing to keep it open until 12am for a small fee (prolly $100). They do not have an outdoor area to sit and the bar area is part of the lobby (not a very big hotel). I will say they did seem very used to accomodating brides and making arrangements as such.
I am so torn!! Any experiences or thoughts on any of these hotels??
They are all about the same distance from the venue, so that doesn't help!
Thanks in Advance!

Hotel Block Help!
My sister got married at Timber Point almost two years ago and she did her room block at the Hilton Garden Inn. They paid what I believe was $50 to keep the bar open until 1am. They had a lot of people at the after party and the hotel was very accommodating. Everyone had a great time and raved about the breakfast the next morning. My sister and BIL stay there whenever they come up here (they live in VA now)The only negative experience they had with the HGI is that they were told upon blocking the rooms that the shuttles would be provided to them and then the hotel said they wouldn't provide them anymore because there were 'too many' blocked rooms and the shuttle only holds 8 people and they were only willing to do 2 trips. At the last minute, my sister had to find a different shuttle service. So, that was very annoying, but everything else worked out.
HTH!

How was the space in the rooms in terms of getting ready there, or did she get ready somewhere else?

We all got ready in a basic room with two double beds with my mom and all the bridesmaids (7) so with her and my mom that was 9 people and it was fine! We all took turns going into the bathroom to change into the dress and then took some pictures in the lobby. The guys got ready in a room on a different floor and it was enough room for them too. We weren't in there very long so I don't think I ever stopped to think 'this isn't enough space'.
People are still raving about the food at my sisters wedding, and they took such good care of us in the bridal suite I almost wanted to book there for our wedding. The stuffed salmon was SO yummy!

I am so glad to hear that!! I have never been there for a wedding so it's nice to hear positive feedback. It's so hard to find any info on Timberpoint in general.
I was worried that the girls would be crowded in there, I was hoping they had a bigger suite. The hotel seems nice tho!
Thanks for all the info!

I actually went there today! They were super nice, but the hotel is a little older. It is much bigger than the other places I mentioned, but the rooms and hotel itself were just a little outdated in my opinion.
We also looked at the Hyatt. I felt this was a little better, but I wasn't overwhelmed either. HTH!
