i thought it would be nice for my out of towners to stay at the same hotel
my parents came up from florida and we went to look yesterday and either everything is too expensive for my mother or too far away-so at this point I dont care to do a hotel block??
thoughts?
update-thanks everyone i am still going to do the block I decided but I cancelled the shuttle buses with camelot so im not stuck with them. Joe was great and didnt give me a hard time at all to cancel!!! really is one of the best vendors to work with!

Re: hotel block-yes or no
I'd still do one anyway. If you can't find anything cheaper at a group rate, I doubt your guests are going to be able to find anything cheaper. And I'm sure they'd like the option. We weren't going to do a room block either but closer to the wedding a few guests asked about hotels and we decided to set one up. We only had 3 rooms booked but at least they had the option. HTH!

at least give them the option...they could choose to find their own hotel otherwise

Re: hotel block-yes or no
we blocked TWO hotels, 40 rooms total....
in total... ONE room was booked. and ours, but WE didn't even get the block rate
that being said... do it. because IF one couple saves money.. then its worth it, they'll appreciate it. we went to both hotels on the same day, and emailed the signed contracts the following day.

I would. If people don't use it, that's fine too

I'd do it just so people have the option, especially since it doesn't cost you anything to do.

do it but make sure you arent responsible for the room block if its not filled.
