Hotel rates

We just got a quote from a hotel for blocked rooms that is the same rate as on their website. If we are blocking a group of rooms shouldn't we get some kind of discount? What is everyones experience with this?

yeah you should have a discount... you should try to negotiate the price they are giving you.

You should be able to negotiate a discount for sure. I would ask.

Our hotel gave us a discount after we blocked 15 rooms and guaranteed 5. Either way, there should be a discount

Is it their 'web rate'? I've noticed that sometimes hotels have a 'web rate' which is lower than their regular rate which requires you to pay in full before booking.

That was the same to the rate I was quoted for my hotel.

Yes. That's what the block is for. IMO anyway.

Yes, you should be getting a discount, BUT what kind of internet rate was it??? I looked at all internet rates for the hotels I was interested in, and places like Expedia were giving me lower rates that the hotel's website - but the block rate was less than the hotel's website - and after some negotiating, I got it even lower than the original block quote.

it should definitely be discounted... you are giving THEM business. You can go to ANY hotel. I think mine was at LEAST 30 dollars less per room.

Where is the hotel that you are interested in? Is it a busy hotel or an airport hotel? Is it in the city?

Location sometimes dicatates whether the hotel will be busy, and if it is, then they have no reason to give a discount.
