In the summer DH and I will be going to Oahu to visit family (on the Naval base at Pearl Harbor), my mother will be going too, but we want to stay for a few days in a hotel/resort/spa. Any recommendations? We'll be going in July. Tell me what you liked!
DH and I also want to plan a 4-5 day/night trip to Mexico or central america in April. Our honeymoon was to Costa Rica and we LOVED IT!!!! I have no clue where in Mexico is a good place to visit! DH surfs and we will do watersports but we would also like to see ruins...basically we're open to anything! We're very active on vacations. Any recommenations?

We stayed in Hyatt Oahu/Kaui/Maui I would stay in any hyatt anywhere bassed on these three stayes LOVED them.

If you've gotten some money to spend, the Halekulani on Oahu is unparalleled. Truly the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed at in terms of service. (Better than the Four Seasons and Ritz Carltuns that I've been to!)

We're going here Royal Hideaway for our HM and IMO it doesn't get better than this. Check out TripAdvisor for more hotel (and unbiased reviews) suggestions.

I second Halekulani in Oahu, without a doubt. As far as Mexico is concerned, I've only ever been to Cancun, and I stayed at the Fiesta Condesa Americana Cancun, which is the best hotel in Cancun IMO. Have fun!

when we went to mexico we stayed at the Hotel Carolina which is in Zihuatanejo Mexico- where they went at the end of the movie the Shawshank Redemption....
I stayed at a timeshare in Oahu... I would recommend you stay anywhere in Waikiki, especially if your husband likes surfing!!! It is about 1/2 hour away from Pearl Harbor.

Is your DH a serious surfer? If so, then I wouldn't recommend Waikiki. The waves aren't all that big and there are a lot of beginners there. The waves tend to get overcrowded with all these people learning how to surf. I know there are other areas on the island that are much more noted for surfing.
I can't recall the name of the hotel we stayed at while in Oahu, probably b/c it wasn't worth remembering.
I've only been to Cancun & Cozumel, Mexico. Surfing didn't seem to be very big is those areas. Should you decide to check out Cancun, we've always been happy with Le Meridien.
