Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

Can anyone give me any hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area? Since I need to block off rooms for guests, I don't want them to pay a lot. (Danford's is beautiful but too much $$)

I called the Holiday Inn Express on Rt 347, but they're sold out of blocks for my day

Thanks in advance!

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

You can try the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook but I think they are expensive. There are lots of little Bed and Breakfasts in Port Jefferson that you might want to check out. There is the Wyndham in Hauppauge which is one of the closest big chain hotels to Stony Brook that I can think of (other than the Holiday Inn). Also, I know they just built a Radisson right off the LIE about 2 exits from Nicholls Rd (the Stony Brook exit). I can't think of anything else right off the top of my head.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

The Econo Lodge in Smithtown is a motel and not a hotel which I am sure is cheap. What about the Courtyard at Marriott on the LIE exit 61, I pass it everyday back and forth to work and there is a sign saying it is now open.

I blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn in Stony Brook for my 10/13 wedding, I guess it was a good thing we did it early if they booked up already for you

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

Thanks everyone - I too am suprised they booked up so fast! I called them this past January and everyone kept telling me I had plenty of time!!!

Meg - I hadn't heard about the Raddison - I'll have to check that out.

stacey - the Marriott isn't the one in Islandia, is it? When did you book your rooms, a while ago?

Mickeya1a - We're having our reception at the Old Field Club.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

There is actually a brand new Marriot Courtyard right on the LIE - I think that is the one Stacey was talking about - Not the one in Islandia.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

I am getting married at PJCC and I had a hard time getting affordable hotels...I ended up booking the Smithtown Sheraton on Motor Parkway b/c it is near my church in Commack.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

I am not sure of the town but the Courtyard Marriott is brand new, it used to be a Comfort Inn I think? It isn't in Islandia, you can see right off the LIE at exit 61. Town could be Ronkonkoma?!

I booked my block of rooms in May for October, since it was a holiday weekend. I can't believe they booked all their blocked rooms, that hotel is pretty big! They must have a big party coming in or something.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

Thanks again for your help ladies - I think I'm screwed though LOL

The sales mgr at Holiday Inn Express said she already had 8 bridal parties blocking rooms at the hotel on the weekend of my wedding, and it's not even a holiday weekend

Teri....that bites!!

I would try the Courtyard Marriott I said, it is new and I am sure more than big enough to block rooms at. Let me know how it goes.

Good Luck!

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

There is a brand new Hampton Inn on Ocean Avenue right off the Expressway in Farmingville.

I've booked at Danfords Inn but it's very expensive and the management is not very accommodating. They seem to make it very obvious that they don't need my business.

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

Try the Wyndham Wind Watch in Islandia. I booked out a block of rooms for my wedding for $139/night and it's a really nice hotel.

Contact Lisa Ganci @ 631-232-9815. She was very helpful.

The Wyndham Wind Watch is where we stayed, I highly recommend it, the rooms were great and they have a pool and hottub!

Re: Hotel recommendations in the Stony Brook area?

We'd love to have a hotel with a bar or lounge - anyone know if Windwatch has one that's open late?

The Radisson has one that's open til 1:30AM, so we might just go there.

Thanks for your help everyone.....
