Re: Hotels near Coral House help needed
Jenn, Our wedding was at the Coral House also. I researched the hotels near there. None of the hotels there had bars right in the hotel (this was something important to our guests). We ended up using the Marriott in Uniondale b/c of that reason. We went over everything with the blocked room coordinator re: price, keeping the bar open until 2:00 am that night etc beforehand. Anyway, a couple of friends of ours booked the day before the wedding and got 30.00 less per night than those that booked on the blocked room rate, and they gave us a hard time re:keeping the bar open. They did, but it was a fight to get it done that night. If a bar in the hotel is important and you go with the Marriott, be extremly clear on all points and mention the room rate as well. If not the Holiday Inn, I think it was in Rockville Center was the same price. I just wanted to forewarn you just in case. Good Luck !
BTW: the Coral House was perfect. You will love it

I have gone to the Holiday Inn in RVC on Sunrise Highway for conferences and its a nice place. It has a restaurant on the first level. The only negative is the parking. I am only there for one day but as a tourist I would be complaining.

Jennbaby- I live in Baldwin and the closest hotels are the Holiday Inn in Rockville Centre on Sunrise Hwy, the Wingate Inn in Garden City or the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale. The only other ones are motel type places which I don't think you are looking for

Sure, there is a place on Sunrise Hwy in Baldwin/Rockville Centre called The Diplomat. I don't think it is as expensive, not like the hotels. It is a motel, I have out of town family that have stayed there so it can't be too much of a rat trap
Diplomat Motor Inn 1000 Sunrise Hwy Rockville Centre, NY 11570 (516) 678-1100

There's also the Gateway Inn on Sunrise Highway in Merrick (only about 7-10 minutes from the Coral House). Don't know much about it - but it may be an option. You can check it out.
