House and/or Wedding ?

just curious .. Its hard to buy a home and have a wedding within the same yr for many but i know its feasible depending on the couple circumstances....

just wanted to get an idea of what others are currently doing /planning on doing

we rent a house from my parents right now for very cheap so we are fortunate in that aspect

after the wedding we will begin saving for a house

That is our situation also. Hopefully we can buy a house 6 months to a year after the wedding

We are doing this also! We havent moved in yet because the other tenant is still living there. Which is ok because it allows us to save more money for the wedding!

Focusing on the wedding right now...we're just about all saved for that, so we're going to start saving for a house. In the meantime, we'll be rent immediately following the wedding until we can afford a house.

Home ownership since 2006--wedding after!
I just couldnt see ME paying thousands of dollars on a wedding before getting a house... but everyone is diff....

We will be staying with FMIL intill we have enough to buy. Fh does not want to rent so as long as we can stay their it will be fine, oh FMIL does not drive so I will be taking her to work twice week so she was happy , and I will do the grocery shopping.

We're lucky - we already have a place to live. Maybe we'll look into moving, but with the thought of inheriting a mortgage free home it seems too good to pass up.

My FH recently inherited part of his grandmother's house when she passed away. It's split between his uncle, his aunt and himself (my FH mother passed away last april so he is the executor of her estate). So right now we're living here until after our wedding when we will sell the house, split the profit, and move away. We're hoping to be able to buy a house or do a 'rent to own' type of situation down in NC

FI and I have owned a home together for roughly...3 years now so only have to worry about paying for wedding.

We are in contract on a home at the moment. Originally we were going to wait until after the wedding; however, everyone kept telling us this is the time to buy. It's going to be a lot with the wedding but it will be worth it.

We bought our home in Sept and now are planning (and paying) for the wedding. It can be tough but it's not all bad...

We bought a house two years ago (april '08) and will be getting married next year (nov 11). There's NO way we could have done both at the same time. We needed the 2 year gap to pay for all the house expnses and then start to rebuild a fund for the wedding. We're STILL in the middle of house projects!!

wedding and then renting.

I'm working and in school full time and aside from the $ issue it would just be too much on our plate right now.

We live together now, so after the wedding we will continue renting untill we can buy a house

We got engaged this past December. We both talked about our plans once the holidays were over. We both still live with our parents.

The bottom line is one more year of the both of us saving will enable us to get a house in the area we want.

It will also give our parents time to save to HELP us pay for our wedding.

So.....we are waiting a year so we can have both around the same time.

We aren't in a huge rush because we live so close to eachother and see eachother every day. Even though we want to get married really badly, one year is nothing and it will be worth the wait to do it the way that is best for us.

So we are seriously planning on doing both at the same time. We will probably buy the house while planning.....in about a year.

In the mean time we'll just be excited for everything and enjoy being engaged!

FH and I are currently living together in an apartment and are saving both for the wedding and house. The wedding will be completely paid off before the big day so anything we get from the wedding will go straight to the house fund.
