I believe our first course will already be on the table, so I can't put it on the plate.

Where/how are you displaying your menus.

We had our menu's tucked into the napkins on the plates. They were DIY. I got cream card stock from staples, ordered ecru velum paper and printed the menu on the velum. I cut the two to match so that the cardstock was the backing and I bound the two with hunter green ribbon.

Do we have to make menus? Don't the waiters come around and just verbally give you the choices??

yes they do give the choices---but i think sometimes it stinks to have to repeat the choices over and over and over again--and alot of times they are just giving a basic description--at least with the menus ppl can read the ingredients and figure out what they want before the waiter takes the order

at weddings i've been to where they have menus vs. ones where there are no menus---i find it takes less than half the time to place the dinner orders when there's a menu present. which means the party can start sooner and ppl can get up and dance!

we displayed our menus on the plates with a favor

Good point..I just thought people did it just b/c
Great another DIY - add that to the list
Is there a template I can start from?

I plan to have them tucked in the napkins, napkins folded on the plate.

Yes, this is why I did them, too. As far as the display, check with your hall. I thought my hall was just going to lay them down on the plates, but they ended up being stacked up against the water glass.

Mine were on the plates like this:

Typically my RH has the first course on the plate too, but because I wanted them displayed like this they served the app instead once everyone was seated. HTH!
