How bad is it to put 'Adult Only' on the invitations?

How bad is it really...

I need help on this one because I KNOW more than a handful of people will bring their kids-even if the envelope is addressed to just them...

try 'Adult Reception' or 'Adults Only Reception.'

I don't think it's bad at all. You could write 'Adult reception at 7 PM'. Then it's classy but informative!

Just MY opinion, but i think word of mouth is best. People may get insulted that their rugrats arent invited.. believe me.. I have to worry about this in my family

I've seen 'Adults Only' on an invite. Why dont your rsvp cards look like this:

Mr & Mrs. L. Pupucaki
_____Will attend
_____Regretfully cannot attend.

Im sure they can get the idea this way.. But seriously, its not impolite write 'adults only' by ay means

Honestly, it's not bad at all...you can do what I did w/the RSVP's so that people do not bring more than the ones invited:

Now did you write their name on the card or just the amount?

JMO, I don't like the sound of it.

I am going through the same thing though.

I am only addressing invites to the adults.

If you really think your family/friends will still show with their kids, maybe have your mom or someone else spread the word.

My reception card says: 'ADULT RECEPTION'.

Are you, FH, parents or FIL's close with these people? It might be best to talk to the people directly (I know cases where people have disregarded the request). If you talk with them, you can put the spin on it that you would like them to enjoy the wedding so it would be better to leave the kids at home. If you spin it that you are thinking about them, you might get a better reaction. We had to do that with a few people on my FH's side. I'm glad too because the kids in question are a bit energetic.

My cards will have 'adult reception' on it. My family is just like yours. You put their names on the card and they want to bring the entire family.

Yea, exactly...FH has cousins upstate...and they all live in the same area, so if one fam brings them, all of them will. Then there will be like 12 from that part alone.

Hey Jeanine,
It is not bad at all. I put 'Adult Reception' on the respnose card and the reception card just to be sure that no one can miss it.

You better put Adult Reception if not you're going to have a lot more people than you expected.

Those that are 'thick' will bring kids anyway...this was mine (sorry, it's on the left and then the bottom)...I wrote 'Adult Reception, Dinner and Dance' and people still brought kids. But that day nothing matters!
