How bad is it to put 'Adult Only' on the invitations?

I need help on this one because I KNOW more than a handful of people will bring their kids-even if the envelope is addressed to just them...

On my invite I put. Adult Reception immediately to follow. Its not tacky at all.

Its your wedding remember. You are paying for your guests to be there.

I don't think it is rude at all- anyone who has ever been to wedding knows that children are not invited to weddings. If anyone shows up to my wedding with their kids, I have no qualms about telling them to leave. There are only enough seats for those who are invited, not for who they chose to bring on their own.

I am putting 'Adult Reception' as well.

Okay I would like to put this as well' Adult Only' but would I be contradicitn myself if I allow some and not all kids.

I plan on inviting my aunt and FH aunt who has young kids to the wedding with their kids. ( THey are OOTs)

What do think about that?

You keep it 'Adults Only' and then let your aunt bring her kids. You don't say a thing and tell her to keep her trap shut...at the wedding, you act surprised that the kids came.
My sister and brother all brought their kids (hello, they are my nieces and nephew!) oh well to the rest of the family...I could only stand my own!

You keep it 'Adults Only' and then let your aunt bring her kids. You don't say a thing and tell her to keep her trap shut...at the wedding, you act surprised that the kids came.

If it makes you feel more comfortable, do it. I have seen it done before and actaully I think it looks very formal on the invite.
