With everything I've read I need to pack, it seems like I'll need some enormous suitcase! I was thinking more of a carry-on type suitcase would ba appropriate. What are you/did you bring?

Re: How big is your hospital bag?
Right now I have a small rolling suitcase. I'll probably carry a shoulder bag with the baby's stuff in it.
My bag is packed with:
2 nightshirts from Target (they were only $12 so I don't care if they get soiled) 1 robe 1 slippers 3 pairs of socks 1 pack of cotton underwear Maxi pads Nursing pads Toiletries 1 tube of lanisoh (sp??) aka nipple cream brush and hair tie lip balm
Later I will pack my curling iron, lip liner/lip stick, an outfit to wear home.
For the baby, I'll bring a coming home outfit, an outfit for 1st picture and blanket.

Re: How big is your hospital bag?
I actually did 2 bags -- one was my labor/delivery bag; the other was the postpartum bag. Things like nightgown, robe, sweatpants, mine and his going home outfits, hairdryer, were not necessary in the LDR, and made it a lot easier to find things.

Re: How big is your hospital bag?
I had a duffel bag and my pillow - not too bad. DH brought a small bag and we brought the baby's bag the day he got to go home.
My bag: -Glasses -Copy of Hospital Documents -Insurance Information -A bathrobe, 2-3 nightgowns, slippers, and a couple of pairs of socks. -about 3 bras -about 3 pairs underwear (full back - but I wound up wearing the mesh ones they give you - I didn't think they were too bad and didn't want to ruin mine because I was bleeding heavily) -pillow -snacks -Pony tail holders/clippy, brush, hair spray -Toiletries. Toothbrush/toothpaste, lip balm, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, makeup -Towel -Watch -Something to read (didn't use) -low rise sweats, maternity tee, sneakers -Baby Book for footprints (I forgot mine but have it on the paper they give you)
DH's bag (at least a list I found online and gave him as a list) -watch with a second hand to time your contractions. -Toiletries toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant - he didn't use -A change of clothes -he didn't use -Some snacks -Something to read during the early stages. -A camera / video camera and film or tape or a memory card and batteries. -Cell phone (charged!!) - of course his wasn't -List of important phone numbers -Money
For baby: -An infant car seat, bundle me -A going-home outfit -Blanket -Socks -T-shirt -Hat -wish I would have brought my own pacifier - he now will only take the hospital type pacifiers (soothies)

Re: How big is your hospital bag?
Also do not foget to pack snacks and some bottled water for your Dh this way they do have to leave the room to find it.. I also had one of those elasric cloth headbands which was a life saver because it really helped me keep my hair out of place.. Alos bring your own towel the hospital ones are really too small and it was nice to have my nice big towel...Also make sue you have pajamas that button down the front it will make it easier if you re nursing..and so not forget your camera.. if i think pof anything else I will let you know
