The fortune cookie idea is such a cute idea. I know you said you wanted to keep the cost down ( believe me I hear ya,) maybe you can put something else with it like some mixed candy in one of those Chinese takeout boxes, and put two fortune cookies in it for per couple?

I def was thinking about those Chinese food take out boxes too! I love that it's different! I wish those custom m and m's weren't so much.... that could be cute with them, u can put your photos on them now! I'll have to price those out again! that or Hershey kisses. ... I'll see!
maybe if I could find someone on li that does these cookies instead of in etsy I could save on shipping too! everyone I found seems ti b in cali!

I have about 200 chinese takeout containers left over from my wedding. I'll give you a good price if you want to buy them for your favors.

wow! not my fam lol we are chocolate lollipop crosses kinda people lol.
not that this makes that much of a difference but they are going to be chocolate dipped and have customized fortunes so that's why I was looking into them. I want gonna go to a Chinese place and be like can I have 200 fortune cookies lol could u imagine. so they are a little nicer then what u get free from take out.
again I love this idea, so how do I make it not look cheap?

My family is Totally a chocolate cross lollipop family too! We are doing personalized BBQ sauce in bottles with custom labels, and only spending about $2 per person. I don't think the price you spend is necessarily conducive with the quality of the favor. So you can def do something more affordable (cheaper!!) but still look great. lol

Also lets be honest, so many people don't even take the favor, or do and just end up tossing it, I will admit I'm guilty. lol

how cheap is too cheap - Long Island Weddings

i personally think one fortune cookie is cheap. like the other girls said, as a guest you are spending a lot of money to go to a wedding, a fortune cookie can be eaten in like 3 seconds, i would give something that people can use, that when people use it they always think of your special day

Re: how cheap is too cheap

so I've read on here about some girls spending over $500 on favors for guests, I was hoping to save every penny I could I was hoping for $1/ favors ish!
I went to wrap with us and found great bottle opener we loved.... discontinued! so I searched again and found shot glass super supercheap on ebay that will customize them....240 for $160!!! that gives each person thier own shot glass and leaves us with like 40 or so extra. which is a waste so I started to search again..... this time for edible favors.
I thought 2 choc covered strawberries, one tuxedo one white with sparkled sprinkles ( bride and groom) fh didn't love it..... so then I said what about fortune cookie with customized fortunes? he loves it, I just priced out out on etsy, it would be about a dollar a cookie.... so its affordable....but does giving someone a single fortune cookie look really cheap?

I really like the chocolate covered strawberry favor! I can't believe your fiance nixed that - I would rather have those than a fortune cookie (not that a fortune cookie is bad).

I think the fortune cookie alone is a little cheap, but I also think a dollar a cookie is a lot, I think you can get them cheaper elsewhere. I think if you do that along with something else it's nice. I'm all about the edible favors though, when I get non-edibles I either don't take them or toss them when I get home.

I agree with the post above by brads girl. I would do something a little nicer that people can use. Like a wine stopper, a dish, etc.. & I'm also not a big fan of using a photo booth as a favor..

I personally feel its too cheap. I plan to spend $8 per couple. Plus I also have a bunch of other extras through out the reception for our guests. People spend a lot of money to come to a wedding as a guest, I feel like they should get a little something nice in return.

I agree with this. $8 per couple is more than I plan to spend, but I do plan to spend around $5-6.

I think if you jazz it up a bit it will be cute. I've been to weddings where there was no favor, just a donation.... I've been to weddings that gave out bottle openers (I never use) or salt n pepper shakers that are tossed in my drawer somewhere! I don't think that guests go to a wedding expecting a fancy shmancy favor... At least I never do! I just went to a wedding that gave out Lenox candy dishes. It's ugly as hell so I gave it to my mom, lol! I say food is the best way to go if you plan on doing a favor and not donation. I think the cookies in the takeout boxes are cute. I did the same thing when asking my bridal party. Do what makes u feel comfortable with the amount of money you feel comfortable spending. You can't please everyone, do of what makes you happy :)

ETA: we're doing the photo booth with photo frames. We also got a food truck for after the wedding with bags monogrammed with our names. Guests can fill the bags with tons of candy, baked goods... Even fast food. Lol.

ok do idk what's wrong with my phone! I got no alerts on this! I have allot of people to respond to and I def don't remember who said what lol
1. that mrwooton site someone posted i found that site too! if I buy 400 = 2/person they are only 20 cents each!! looks like I've got another diy project! I'm a pro at chocolate dipping so I'm thinking dip one in white chocolate with colored sprinkles to make the bm dress color! the other in black ( dyed white chocolate) with white sprinkles!! everyone gets a bride and a groom cookie!

2. def didnt want to just give 1 cookie I was thinking the take out boxwith something but idk what besides kisses.

3. I maybe be interested in those take out boxes can whoever has them for sale please FM me with how much!? thanks!

4. I was a little disappointed to when fh said no to strawberries but I'm kinda liking these better now! I can wrote my own fortune or quote & still make them look like a bride and groom.

5. who ever said practical favors I thought alot about what is practical to EVERYONE abd there is nothing! half those things people give out go in the junk drawer or garbage with my family. some one said to do nothing not even a donation no one takes them no one's notices. I don't feel comfortable with nothing but I dint want to waste money on something that won't get used. like my bottle opener idea good for beer drinkers..... what about everyone else... same deal with shot glass idea not everyone will use it. no disrespect to people that give those things just not my cup of tea!
6. wh ever said one cookie is cheap but a dollar a cookie seems like a lot.... it's a dollar bc someone else was making them dipping them in chocolate and put my custom fortune in it with that web site I found and someone suggested I can get plain cookies with my custom fortune for 20 cents and dip them my self put them iin a take out box with a ribbon and a few other little goodies! if the cookies with plain with nothing else that would b crazy I agree!
7 (I think lost count) I am spending alot of money for them to be there!ty!! but I don't want to look like a went to a quarter machine either.... I'm prob aging my self they r prob s dollar now! lol
8. whoever said the ' lucky in love' quote.... that's so funny bc we are getting married in Fri the 13th I wanted to put that in my invites!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL for your opinions! I kinda have my heart set on this now! I just have to see if I can dip them myself ! I love the idea of a bride and groom cookie for each person!!!

ps couldn't spell check and line I did phone has been so bad lately idk how many mistakes Swype made# sorry in advane!

I respectfully disagree. I think it also depends on your heritage. This especially is not true for 1st generation Italians... They look forward to the favor

I would most definitely notice if I didn't get a favor. The last wedding I went to had a candy bar at the end and I didn't even realize that it WAS the favor (it was kind of a skimpy candy bar).

That being said, I don't think you need to spend a fortune. I'm giving decks of playing cards, which were like $1 each. They were my dad's idea and I thought it was so nice that he was contributing ideas so I jumped on it and he was so thrilled that I took his advice. I think it's a perfectly acceptable favor, especially since we're also having a cigar roller, viennese to go boxes, a zeppole cart handing out bags as guests leave, a slipper basket and lip balms in the bathrooms that say Holiday Kisses from the New Mr. and Mrs. (with kissing bride/groom penguins).

I do think 1 fortune cookie pp is a little skimpy (sorry!). This website has some cute stuff under $1 and you can personalize most of it.

I believe theknot.com sells chocolates with custom wrappers you can get with your picture and quote.. they don't really run too much either. I was going to buy them as well.

I got my favors for $1.15 too off of favorwarehouse.com they are snowflake ornaments
