HOW COMFORTABLE ARE YOU

Re: HOW COMFORTABLE ARE YOU

Jess2 - congratulations on your weight loss! If you want to get rid of those last 10 lbs, you need to start lifting heavier weights. Using the band is good for toning, but lifting weights heavier than 5 lbs will help build more muscle and having more muscle means your body will burn more calories. Also, variation is KEY. Try to do different exercises and different intensities to mix things up.
Good luck!

Re: HOW COMFORTABLE ARE YOU

I am so uncomfortable. I completely lack motivation, but I know I am procrastinating because I have my HM coming up and I have made the decision to join WW on August 16th (one week after I come back)

I am still going to the gym 3-5 times a weekad mixing up my routine - running, boxing and toning, but I am also eating CRAP - including the scone I just demolished.

I will join the kitty - for each week after aug 19th that I do not join WW, I will pay up $5. For each week after that, until I lose 15 lb, I will pay $5.

What are we doing with the kitty?

Thanks Ann! The problem is I have lower back issues so I'm afraid to lift heavier weights although I guess I could do it sitting down, right?

I feel like I could lose a good 5 pounds and tone it up a bit. I use to work out a lot (6 days a week) and run about 30 miles a week. I miss my running and the gym, but I don't want to be as crazy as I once was. My obsession was unhealthy. I like eating what I like in moderation, I hate diets too, but I try to watch what I eat in terms of carbs and protein vs. calories.
You ladies are inspiring me ... I want to get back to the gym!

Oh, ok. Yeah, be careful of that. Do you go to a chiropractor/doctor? Ask them what types of exercises are ok for you to do. In the meantime, you can lift lighter weights but just do more reps, like 12 - 16 reps. You need to really challenge your muscles to see results.

I baked a huge double later yellow cake with lots and lots of vanilla frosting that I have not stopped eating. I am not comfortable with that. I told FI please take a huge piece to work and share with someone because I just cant look at this cake anymore.

So cake is going to work with FI tomorrow (great one more day of looking at it), and from today till I weigh in on Saturday its fruit, water, and lots of walking and yoga.

I am not dissapointed or upset and I have enough time to do damage control and that makes me very happy and comfortable

Re: HOW COMFORTABLE ARE YOU

I am comfortable with my weight for the most part. As a person, I am comfortable with it. As a runner, I always want to be thinner. Less pounds, less to haul around the race course. But I don't shy away from wearing a bathing suit in public either. I have been a runner since I was a little girl, and started running marathons about 3 years ago, so I do that to keep in shape. I also workout about 5 times a week. Sometimes I will run 2 times a day as well, a longer or harder run in the morning and then a quick short light 3 miles when I get home from work. It helps me unwind.

I don't run to stay thin, I run to get rid of stress. That's my outlet.

As far as eating, to be a good runner, I can't eat McDonalds or that other stuff. I try to keep it healthy, though I do have a sweet tooth, so I indulge in chocolate something-or-others every now and then. FH has successfully weened my chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake cravings. Now if he'd only not keep chocolate chip cookies in the house... :)

I also try to keep the carbs to the minimum that I need to run. I need them, I can't go Atkins on myself, but I don't overdo it either unless it's the night before a race. I am sure to eat a lot of veggies and fruits, which isn't hard for me because I love them anyway.
