Just wanted to hear about all of your wonderful suprises.
Here's my story:
FH & I went to Disney this past July. In the back of my mind, I was wondering if there was a possibility he might propose on this trip. I figured that if he was going to, he would probably do it on the last day of our vacation (go out with a bang).
Well, on our FIRST day there----that night we went to watch the Electric Light Parade and then the fireworks. After the fireworks, he told me had brought pennies for us so that we could make wishes at Cinderella's fountain. So he lead me there, and we made our wishes. He then told me he had wished that I would be his forever. He told me how much he loved me and how much I meant to him. And then he got down on his knee, presented the ring and asked me to marry him. It was so sweet and magical!

On January 1, 2002 we were at his sisters house and she had this big bay window that looked into her backyard, after the ball dropped my DH told everyone that his nieces made a new years sign in the backyard so we all turned around to see and DH BIL flipped a switch and I saw this

Love that Stay...
We went to chop down our Xmas tree last year and he hung my ring on a string and put it on the tree...called me over to show me the tree he wanted to chop down...and SURPRISE...there it was!!!
Before I tell my story I need you ladies to know that me and my FH NEVER spoke of marriage. We were very happy living together for the past year. I never looked at rings, never told him the size of my finger... You get the idea.. :)
On November 1 2003 we went to a Halloween party dressed up with family and friends. I was Dorothy and he was the Scarecrow. He said he wanted to get some air..so I went with him. To make a long story short, he qouted 'Our' movie when he proposed. I could not get over how amazing the ring was, and that he told his friend the Jeweler, just make it an average size band because I don't know what size she is.
Well I cried for two hours straight because I could not get over that he pulled such a huge surprise on me. EVERYONE knew except me.
I am such a lucky girl.. but I the funniest part is when I do something silly or something to get under his skin, he quotes the Wizard of Oz 'If I only Had a Brain!!' when he asked me to marry him..

FI kept saying how he wanted cake from his favorite bakery. During the week he kept telling me how he was going to order the cake. On Thursday September 12, 2002 he called me at work and told he had ordered it and I asked him what did you get on it 'hands off' or 'My cake' he laughed. On friday September 13th he picked up the cake and told me he would be waiting for me to come home so we can have the cake together. I got home at about 6 and at 6:30 he said go slice up a piece of cake, because we have to go pick up my check and i want to go before it gets late. We are also going out with my aunt for her birthday. So I get up and go to the kitchen and in the fridge is this massive sheet cake. I take it out and while i am trying to cut the strings and tape he gets the video camera. i finally open the box and see 'Will you marry me on the cake'. When he picked up the cake he had put the box with the ring on the cake.
I looked at the cake, then looked at him, looked back at the cake, back at him, and said to him 'I think they gave you the wrong cake' he smiled, then I looked back at the cake and just started screaming my head off. I dont think i even said yes, i just screamed.

He asked me to go to dinner to where one of our friends used to work (Billy's Beach Cafe in Long Beach). On the way there something was said and we started arguing. It wasn't a nice one. Anyways, we ate like pigs and FH asked me to go to the beach for a walk (we were supposed to meet friends afterwards at Jillians) so that his food could go down. It was windy and had closed my eyes so the sand wouldn't bother me. When I opened them, FH was on both knees asking me to marry him. I was laughing and crying at the same time (I do both when I get nervous). The arguement: he started it on purpose to throw me off. I later asked him why the beach? He said because thats where we ended up on our first date. And they say guys don't remember anything.

Well, i need to start this off with saying that we have been together since my senior year in high school.... (i am 24, he is 26) and have known each other for many years before that. We always talked about marriage etc. We were on our annual cruise in feb '03 when we were shopping in st. thomas. we were browsing a jewelry store and he spotted what became 'THE RING' i tried it on and fell in love with it. since then nothing has been as beautiful as that ring lol..... sooo here is my story, its christmas eve, im tired and ready to go to sleep and he says go in the other room i want to show u baileys christmas gift...(bailey is our 3 year old chocolate lab that i have been telling him to get her a gift for for weeks lol) he says bring the camera, i was complaining and tired hahaah but i said ok... i heard a bell jingling and im thinkikng he got her into a santa suit or something (poor dog hahah) he calls me back and he is sitting there with her, she is wearing these reigndeer antlers that we bought her last year (hence the bell) with a sign that says 'mommy will you marry daddy'.... the ring was tied under her neck on her colar....i was so shocked i couldnt believe it!!! i too dont think i said yes until 20 minutes later..... the best part (besides marrying ronnie) was that it was 'my ring' he got the stores info in st. thomas and had had the ring for months!!!! thanks for listening... look forward to hearing all of your stories!

She neglects to say that the security at JFK almost blew the suprise. My brother took the ring on the plane for me, and they searched his bag, pulled it out, and started screaming, 'Someone's getting married!!!!!!!!'. My brother was like, could you please be quiet.
It worked out though, thankfully.

I was gonna start a thread like this.. so I'll have to think of another.. hmmmm.... but in the meantime, here's my story...
I got the ring. I started reading sites to get ideas and everything seemed too over the top or not realisitc.. (Maybe some of the tales were BS.. who knows..) but I did read something at a site that said.. 'Just make it come from the heart.. don't get too complicated.'
Nothing was want I wanted to do. Besides, she suspected along with her family.. so I knew this had to come out of nowhere.
Her Mom decides to throw a family party before Super Bowl Sunday. Everyone's staying over.. and there'll be party with a bunch of friends the next night.
Perfect!... Her family will be over.. and her friends will be there the night of the 2003 Super Bowl. (We're staying at the house.)
We have dinner.. play some games.. I'm nervous through the whole thing.
We go downstairs.. and just start talking.. laughing mostly.
Before we know it is 3am and she's pooped.
So she says she's going to bed.. I know the moment HAS to be NOW! (For reasons listed above...)
I say I'm staying up for a bit. I go around her place start lighting candles... (not unusual for me). I have this package for her in a box.

Basically it's a cobolt blue bottle with a note written by me on parchment.
She's in bed.. and for the first time ever.. I'm trying to get her OUT of bed.. LOL
I say the worst excuses to get her up... for example.. 'Hey the Islanders are playing, wanna watch?'.. (Horrrible.. in and of the fact I HATE the Islanders.. LET'S GO RANGERS!!!). LOL
Then I'm telling her.. 'i'm giddy.. just let's hang out.. just an hour more.
I thought of the WORST reasons to get her back inot the downstairs lving room.
Finally I'm reduced to saying.. 'look I have a surprise for you.. It's outside.. Please come see it.' In other words.. I begged.. haha.
SO.. she comes outside.. see the box with the bottle in it.. she opens it and read the message I had written for her.
She loves it.. starts to cry.
I ask.. if she would be my wife.. and she goes 'Yes'... steps back for a moment and then says.. 'What.. are you REALLY asking me? and I say.. 'Yes.'
We kiss and she says she would love to be my wife. We kiss again.
I play dumb for a moment and say.... 'Oh wait.. I'm forgetting something.'.. She looks puzzled by this.
I pull out this rose with a top that opens up.
She looks at it.. and tells me.. 'No....... you open it.. I'm too nervous.'
I open it.. Her eyes widen. She really liked the ring.
I had hidden a bottle of champagne in the fridge which I nearly forgot about.. We pop the cork at about .. oh.. 6AM!!!... LOL
I'm relieved. She's pumped.. Runs up at about 7am to wake her sister up.
She loved it.. Our families loved. It.. all in all.. a pretty good job.
Still will never understand the Islander game thing though. LOL Guess I just love her!

My fiance proposed on a pizza pie.. IT WAS SO CUTE>. and I was SO SURPRIZED..
My fiance were puting up his Christmas tree and decorating outside his house...it was our first night to just hang out ALONE in a LOOONG time...being the holidays, i had family from overseas visiting and I was busy doing the whole Statue of Liberty,Empire State Building Rockefeller Center thing with them for the millionth time...so anyways, we fought that morning and I hung up on him THREE TIMES (sorry, it was the PMS, I SWEAR!) and said I wasn't coming over to hang out and he could do his decorations by himself. I was such a GRINCH! But he said he would cheer me up and make me feel better...I acutally said 'Nooo..you'll just make me feel WORSE!' Meanwhile,the original argument is b/c of something my mom said to me... Anyways, I digress....back to story: we put up said tree, decorate outside, he orders Chinese and instead of having it delivered, goes and picks it up, leaving me alone to figure out just which little, annoying,idoitic light is causing an entire set to NOT WORK....which is a good thing cause I may have ended up strangling him with the set if he stayed with me! He comes back, we eat...at least I eat cause he isn't even half way done. I see the bag of fortune cookies...go to grab it, he says 'NO,wait..they're for dessert.' I say 'So what, I'll eat it later, I just want my fortune.' So I crack open the cookie as he is trying to swallow his food and on the slip of paper inside, instead of something about Confucious says this or that...it says 'Denise,will you marry me?' First I am thinking...'How odd, this fortune has my name on it...must be one of those that say F*You on them(my bro got one once)... I read it 3 times...and the next thing I know, he is on his knees by my side with the box open,takes the ring, asks me again with tears in his eyes...and I said YES! Then I screamed and ran up and down the hallway and called everyone within a 1000 mile radius. SERIOUSLY...I have family in Florida. So...there ya go!

My FI gave me a 40 question test. I needed to get 20 questions right to 'pass' and get the ring. Luckily, I got 21!!! It was almost an awkward situation.
Once I passed, he took me to Roslyn Duck Pond where he proposed.
I decided that I am going to surprise him and give him my own test on our wedding day.

On a Sat we went out to the suburbs to do some shopping. I needed to buy a gift for a friend's bridal shower later that day. So then we go out to breakfast and we end up hooking up wit some friends there. FH's best friend meets up with us also and he hands FH his house keys as he sits. I didnt think anything of it bc they hung out the night before, so i just thought that FH left them at his house.
So we go home, and when we get off the elevator I see all this stuff on the floor in front of our door. I'm like whats all this sh*t on the floor. when I get close to it i realize they're rose petals. I'm like what this? I open the door and there is a path of rose petal on the floor down the hallway. Then on this little table by the door there's my picture and 2 red roses. So I walk down the path and in the living room window, there's a large vase full of roses. I go through the living room and into the den following the roses. The first thing I notice is that the room was clean and kept asking who did all this. On the coffee table, there was another vase of roses and long stem roses all over the table with different marriage or wedding planning books. So at that point I'm like oh sh*t. He tells me to sit down as he turns on the stereo, which is playing our song (Brian McKnight's Stay the Night). He starts talking (I dont even remember what he said) and then leans forward on his knees. Pulls out the box from his pocket and asks me to marry him. I say yes, we kiss and then he tells me about the planning he did. All I could do is look at the ring. Then he says arent you supposed to be crying? I was just holding the ring in shock. He told me that he wrote my parents a letter and called them a few nights before. When he was said that he talked to my father and asked for their blessings that's when I started to cry.

It was my birthday and we went out to city island(I LOVE seafood). It was the most romantic little restaurant with lights on the table and everything, overlooking the water. While driving back home he stops in Flushing Meadows park( the place we had our first date, thus the reason to have the reception at TOTP) We sit on the bench looking at the huge globe and I turn around and he is on one knee with the ring. I was completely STUNNED. It was the absolute BEST. Definitely the happiest day of my life.

It was our 5 year anniversary from when we started dathing and he took me out to dinner in Manhattan and then surprised me with 2 tickets to the top of the Empire State Building (that's where he took me for my 1st bday b/c I've lived in NY my whole life and had never been there!). We were up there for over an hour and I was a little freaked out b/c I work near the WTC and didn't care to see planes flying all over the place or be that high up. I could see he was acting weird and I really wanted to leave but something told me not to b/c I didn't want to ruin our 'anniversary'. At 11:45 (right before they were closing) he asked me if I loved him and I said of course and he said 'Do you love me enough to spend the rest of your life with me' and I said definitely and he said 'well in that case *got down on his knee and pulled out the box* 'Will you marry me?' It was the best moment of my life!!!

At Pfiff (our favorite restaurant) Once we got to the restaurant, the owner was standing next to the bar. She leads us to our table and right away I notice that there are rose petals strewn all over the tabletops. I just thought that she was trying to make the restaurant more romantic nut he had them sent there. Sitting on top of our table (the corner table...which we always sit at) is a bouquet of Lily of the Valley (my favorite flower). FH had them flown in from Scandinavia. So I thought he was being incredibly romantic. I still had no clue. As we are finishing dinner, suddenly 'our song' comes over the loudspeakers. (I Love the Way You Love Me- John Michael Montgomery) This place is one of those trendy restaurants...not exactly a place for country music. But I noticed that nobody else in the restaurant was fazed by this. So as the song is playing, I started to cry as FH starts to sing it to me. Then they bring out Crème Brulee (my favorite dessert) which is not on the menu...and FH had them make it. After dessert, I Can Show You The World From Aladdin starts playing. Then he starts this speech about how much I mean to him, how much he loves me and wants to spend forever with me. He asked if I was ready to start an 'adventure of a lifetime' with him. By now, I am bawling. He says...'well there is only one more question to ask you then' as he comes around the table and gets down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and he has this silver bell with my initials engraved on it. I am just crying and staring at it (it was the ring box but I was in shock). So he opens it and sitting there is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. So of course I said yes. Then they start to throw rice at us...everybody in the restaurant was in on it. The owner had told people about it a couple of weeks ago and people came by just to watch him propose. They bring over a bottle of champagne. As we leave the restaurant, the guy in the Santa hat leads us to one of those bicycles with the seat on the back, covered in rose petals. FH hired him to take us to the next bar, Underbar, (another favorite place of ours) where he has reserved us an alcove. The owner came over and they sent over two of our favorite apple martinis. On the way there, he plays this CD of all love songs he made...and once we got there, he played me this DVD slideshow of pictures of us throughout the year...all the places we have been together... Syracuse, Baltimore, The Bahamas, New Orleans, Saint Louis, New York...it was perfect.

At the light house in Montauk where we visit every summer. It's our little getaway. He brought me, my sister, BIL, cousin and cousins DH. They video taped the entire thing and took pics also. It was amazing right up on a bluff overlooking the water!
