we decided to not spend a lot of money on each other for xmas and I told him that all I wanted was a pair of white sneakers as my gift, my parents were having a little get together the day after xmas and alot of family and friends were there and it was time for me to open my gifts, I opened the box and took out 1 white sneaker to show everyone what I had got AND he laced the ring onto the sneaker-when I turned to look at him and he was on 1 knee proposing-in front of about 30 people. It was GREAT!

FH took me to the sweetest place on earth (hershey park that is!!!) on thanksgiving weekend. They have this festival of lights going on at that time of the year. We spent the whole day at the park and I had all the chocolate I could eat. We were waiting for it to get dark so we could see all the lights. As the evening approached we were walking out of the park and the pathway was all lit up. He told me to close my eyes because he bought me something in the park. So I closed my eyes and outstreched both my hands. I felt him put something EXTREMLY heavy on my left ring finger and a box in my right hand. I opened my eyes and my boyfriend was on his knees saying something along the lines of wanting to spend the rest of his life with me..blur... cant remember a thing, I was too excited. The box contained a huge chocolate kiss and the flag that usually says hershey kiss instead read 'Will you marry me, Jenn?' On my right finger was a big red candy pop ring. I started to cry. It was the 'Sweetest' thing ever!!!

We don't live in the same country,so we don't see each other very often. When he was over in September for my brother's wedding I kind of knew it was coming then, but he completely surprised me by doing it AT my brother's wedding!!

I was a BM and towards the end of the night we finally got a moment to sit down together. He said 'I haven't seen you all day' and I told him that my BM duties were finished and I was all his. So he asked me if I loved him and I said Of course. then he asked if I loved him enough to marry him--and I still wasn't getting it!!!! I said well, I've been thinking about this marriage thing and it's forever you know, kind of long term, are we sure we actually want to do this? (I was kidding of course, but I didn't even realize the poor guy was trying to propose! ) So he said Yeah, well, I thought maybe we could give it a try for a little while! and pulls out THE box! Anyway, we were so excited and we told my family and then the band announced it and we danced.

My brother and SIL were great about the whole thing. He had purposely picked the date of their wedding because it fell on my grandfather's birthday, who we were both very close to. When asked if he minded that FH proposed on his wedding day, my brother just said Now two good things have happened on this day.

MY FH had just gotten back from Iraq after 8 long months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well little did I know that he called my sister and his sisters while I was away with my mom and told my sister to please pick out a ring for me (she knew exactly what I wanted ) and he sent her the money through his sisters. this was going on in July so they spent months planning all this. My sister was planning her wedding in Aug and looking for engagement rings for me (I love her!!!!!!!!) well he said he didn't want to wait too long when he got home (you know, ordering the ring and stuff) that's why he had my sister do it. The ring was ready since Sept. but he did not come home until Oct. 8th. He was really nervous and wanted to speak to my parents first (that's why it took him 2 weeks to do it)
On Oct. 25th he took me to his house and bought me roses, some Cristal Champagne
(my first time ever drinking expensive champagne LOL) and in front of his parents and sisters, he proposed. He was sweating and laughing nervously. He is an extremely shy and quiet person so this was really hard for him to do and in front of his family. But he wanted them there. It wasn't a big, elaborate or even original engagement but I loved it because that's his style and I wouldn't want to change that nor my engagement for anything in the world. oh! I'm so in love

I was clueless too. I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I thought it would be xmas...or the trip to fla that we are taking in Feb...but he just got down on one knee and asked me. I was in my pj's and granny robe at the time. He put on my favorite Xmas song (all I want for Xmas is you) and just asked. I was like...'what are you doing' and he went to go put it on the wrong finger and we laughed....I don't remember saying yes either but I *obviously* did!

Aw LovelyL, that sounded like a nice surprise!

My FH proposed to me on vacation in Miami at his grandparents condo where just him and I stayed for the week. We were outside on the balcony overlooking the bay. We were enjoying the evening and Bryan went in and said he was going to get some champagne. He brought it out and then read me a beautiful poem he wrote. Then he got down on one knee and proposed. It was soo sweet!

My Fh and I have been together for 8.5 years, on and off, and we've been living together for 2.5 years. A lot of our friends got engaged over the summer and although I was happy for them, I was getting to my whits end. Were going to our friends wedding in Jamaica in late Sept. and I had already warned him that my ahppiness for others was starting to fade (I swear I am not normally and selfish or bitchy girl). We had made plans to go camping Friday of Labor Day weekend. I had psyched myself up that he was going to propose that night but I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to jinx it. After getting to the camp site, setting up our tent, having dinner, a few berrs, etc.. I started feeling down because I had psyched myself up for nothing. We were sitting there quietly for a while listening to Dave Matheews, my favorite band, when he came out of nowhere and said that he forgot he had a surprise for me the car. He told me to close my eyes and wait for him to get back, so I did. I thought he brought something stupid like marshmellows, so I wasn't even thinking anything (but I was hoping). When I opened my eyes he was on one knee in front of the fire, before he could get any words out I was already crying. He said all kinds of beautiful things (most of which I don't remember) and then he asked me to marry him. Before I could even answer the words came flying out 'did you ask my daddy?' He said yes and so did I!

One Thursday night we were going to Applebee's and we were disagreeing in the car about something and when we got there I had to go to the ladies room. He wouldnt let me go without telling him what I wanted to drink, so I said to him 'You cant wait 2 minutes until I get back?' Fine order me a White Zin. I come back and he looked funny so I thought he put something in my wine (sugar, salt, etc) (I did this to his beer one day as a joke - long story - and was waiting for a payback). I took the glass and was about to pour it on the floor when he asked me to please look in it and there was my ring. The funny part is I wanted a blue sapphire so had I looked at the bottom I would have seen it. He had picked it up that afternoon and was supposed to take me out for a nice romantic dinner that weekend and propose but he couldnt wait he was so excited.

not clueless.. a month earlier we picked out the ring, but he kept it aside so he could surprise propose...I was thinking, ok itwould be nice to tell everyone together at christmas...

on dec 23 a year ago, he took me out to candle lit dinner, I thought it would maybe be then.. Then he takes me out to the islanders game... I thought i would get the big screen proposal.. No, but someone else was proposed to then... After the game I thoght that maybe he was waiting til christmas eve then, but then we decided to walk around the EAB tree after the game. We walked around, looked at all the window displays then stood in front of the tree.. he says ' do you want an early christmas gift'... 'yeah'... so he pulls out a small teddy bear with the ring on its arm, and says will you marry me...

He actually had the proposal plan thought up for a long time, and was going to be windows of the world, and the rockafeller tree, but after september 11, decided to make it local, which i love cause now i call the eab tree my tree..

My DH suprised me with a trip to Italy and proposed to me under the stars in a well known piazza in Florence.

He actually proposed in Italian first....it was the most romantic night ever (second only to my wedding night )
