How did FH propose?

I have to say, I love telling people this story. You'll see why...

I went to what I thought was a surprise birthday party for my FH's friend. However, the surprise was definitely on me. When I got there, all of friends and family were in the room. I was confused as can be and on the video of it, you can actually see me say 'what the hell?' I was told to have a seat in the front of the room. Standing in front of me were all of my male friends dressed in white shirts with blue collars around their necks, meant to look like sailors. George (FH) was dressed all in white with his back to me. After I sat down, he turned around and I could see he was wearing the sailor uniform from Top Gun. He started to sing 'You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling' and had all of the guys singing back up behind him. When he got up to the lyrics 'Baby, baby, I'd get down on my knees for you...' he got down on his knees and asked me to marry him!

I was shaking uncontrollably, with a smile from ear to ear and tears streaming down my face. I was so overwhelmed and excited that I said 'thank you' instead of saying yes! All the while there was a slide show of pictures of George and I throughout our relationship showing on one of the walls.

After the ring was on my finger, it became like an impromptu engagement party and we spent the night celebrating with our friends and family. Such a great night! He had planned for weeks before and got everyone involved without me having a clue.

I wish i had a sweet story.. The first time FH proposed was actually while i was breaking up with him since he had gotten so addicted to video games we barely even spoke anymore.. He had actually planned on proposing on our 5 yr anniversary 2 months later but he freaked out and whipped it out at the most horrible time possible..... He said that day when I turned him down, it made him realize what as *** he had been, and that his life was falling apart all because of a stupid online game. (he seriously played it about 30 hrs a week, on top of working full time). At first i refused to even talk to him, but after about 2 months of him calling, and showing up at my job, and him promising me that he will never play games again I decided to give him another chance since that really was the only bad part about our relationship.. During our break up I had one of my friends tell him that he had better return the ring since i didnt want him to have wasted all that money, and he had told her that he did already since he only had a few weeks to return for a refund.

Well a few months after we got back together (video game free) it was like it was when we first got together.. absolutely amazing, i go to his house one day after work and fall asleep while waiting for him to come home. I wake up a few hours later and start getting my things together so we can go out to dinner.. I go to grab my keys and theres a note.. Anyways the note says 'next time?' which in my half sleepy state confused me but I just grabbed my keys and went to head out with FH (who looked white as a ghost) to eat, when i noticed a black ring box attached to my keys.. I handed him the box.. and told him to do it right haha, So he got down on one knee and asked me... Shaking insanely.. I said yes and the rest is history.. He never actually returned the ring.. He said he knew we were ment to be together and that the ring was so me and so amazing that he didnt want to risk not being able to find it again. Its been well over a year and things are still amazing, Im so glad I gave him a second chance, I dont even know what my life would be like without him in it..

Here is mine...nothing out of the ordinary, but still wonderful to me!
FH and I had been talking about it for some time, but I really didn't think it was happening until closer to our 2 yr anniversary (which would have been about six months later). He had been working a ton of overtime and always called me from work so I was pretty sure that he had yet to go buy a ring. So I guess I kept ruining his plans. 1st he had planned to get me a puppy and tie the ring to its collar...I jokingly in a convo with family mentioned that I thought he would probably do something like that (having no idea that he really was) so he scratched that. Then one night he was going to propose I almost broke up with him (I was feeling really down and bad about some things going on in my life and had decided he shouldn't have to go through it with me). He called my sister and said we aren't getting engaged tonight; I think she is planning on breaking up with me. Needless to say plenty of calls from Mom and sis that night urging me not to break up with him. A week later we were cooking dinner together at his place and I was complaining that I was tired. He told me to go and watch tv that he would finish making it. When dinner was ready, there were steamed clams as an appetizer. He had some on a plate for me and he said to start with the biggest one b/c he already had a few and thought the bigger ones tasted best. When I opened the shell the ring was inside. My reaction??? I'm pretty sure I called him an a#@whole (couldn't believe he had managed to surprise me). Then I started crying and he asked me to marry him!
