How did FH propose to you?

Or did you propose to him? I am sure this has been discussed before but I am fairly new to the boards. :)

When my FH proposed I was totally surprised. (Not that he proposed but by how he did it.) We were training for a marathon together. Every Saturday morning at the time, FH, my dad, and I would wake up at 5:45 am to start running at 6. We planned on doing an 18 mile run. We run down to a golf course and then on the LI sound, and on a board walk... that is about 7 miles. My dad said he had to go to the bathroom, but would catch up with us. So we kept running and at the end of the board walk there was a bunch of high school cross country kids all gathered around something. Then FH started talking him and asking them to give him 5 minutes. He asked them to leave the area. I was so confused as to why he was talking to these kids. Then the left the area and there was a blanket with roses and lights set up. I was even more confused and told FH not to go over there because it was for someone else. But then he told me it was for me!! Complete and total shock. This was all around 7 am. His two brothers got there really early and set everything up.

Okay, sorry this was so long!! But I just wanted to share with other brides. I think most of my friends are sick of bride stories and weddings.

So romantic!!!
Fh planned to propose at the Billy Joel concert at Shea this summer. He chickened out, and ended up doing it in the parking lot of the Manhasset train station.

Awww that is cute too!! I always wonder how nervous guys get right before they propose.

I just got home from work and he called me into the kids bedroom... My (then 11 month old) was standing in the middle of the room. and i leaned down and she took 4 steps to me and I got excited.. I didn't notice she was wearing a 'Will you marry daddy' shirt.. He told me to look at her shirt then I turned around he was on one knee and my other daughter had a bouquet of flowers

Can't believe you were going to run 18 miles that day! Its cute that your dad was in on it!
My fh proposed in Sicily on the beach. We were backing Italy with three of our friends and we went to Sicily to visit FH's family who I know very well. He asked me that morning if I wanted to go to the beach with him alone. I said okay and then I thought I wonder.... But then we went boating all day and I forgot about it. Later at night I remembered but he still hadn't asked me to go to the beach so I was finally like do you still want to go to the beach? He told me to wait downstairs and while he went to the bathroom so now I was really suspicious. So we took his cousins Vespa to the beach and then we were walking along it and then stopped. He started making out with me and then I started thinking oh my god this ***! He only wanted to get some because we have been with our friends all week and haven't been alone So I pulled away and said, 'Did you just bring me here to make out with me?' and he said 'Yes, and to ask you to marry me'. Then I freaked out and started shaking and needed to sit down because I was so nervous I forgot to say yes. I think my response was, 'I thought you were going to wait until we were like 42 to ask me!'

my fh proposed on top of the first mountain we climbed together mt jo in the adirondaks...it was a half surprise... i knew he'd propose that weekend just didnt know he would do it on top of jo or that day for that matter

'Out of the Blueberry' snapple... on an ordinary day while watching flubber because robin is my love!

before he proposed when I got to his house...FH was wearing the outfit that he wore on our first date and i was like 'Are you wearing the shirt from our first date'

And he was like 'Um yeah...not a big deal, just wearing it...it was in my room... i wanted to wear it...thats all' and then went upstairs...

Later he told me he thought that i knew he was goign to propose because of it... I didnt thought! It was a complete surprise!

Loved that concert!
At that Billy Joel concert, we weren't engaged yet and tipsy FH said...'I wish I had a ring right now so I could propose' then he proceeded to tell me his plan to do it during our mini vaca to Niagara Falls.
So that is where he did it (Niagara Falls), but after the concert, he never mentioned what he had planned again..I think he thought I would forget, lol. But yeah, it was cute, he did it at Niagara Falls in our hotel room overlooking the falls, during the fireworks.

For some reason, I read the post below where you mentioned the blueberry snapple, so I thought, he put the ring in the bottle?! She could have choked! But then I scrolled up and saw the pic. That makes more sense!

FH is in a band, so me and a bunch of our friends were at one of their shows. They happened to get a show at a great club in Philly- The World Cafe.

So the band is done, and all of a sudden, the singer gives the phone to FH, and he said

'I'd like to ask my girlfriend to come up on stage.'

I literally froze, and a friend of ours, completely stunned, says, really loud, 'No F-ing WAY!' So I get up there, and he gets the ring. Before he even got a chance to say anything, some guy from the crowd yells,

'Get down on one knee, buddy!' FH laughed, and said 'give me a chance!' So he gets down, and asks. And everyone started clapping. Just a wonderful memory.

I couldn't stop laughing the entire time. It was really great, and I was shocked, because he's so shy, I never would have thought he'd do it in front of all of those people.

I knew where FH was going to do it, because he's really predictable. I feel a TEENY bit bad, because he always tries to surprise me with things and then he just never can, I always deduce it. I 'ruined' 2 birthdays in a row

So I knew when he did it, it would be in Avalon park in Stony Brook Village, where we have a little bench off the beaten path that we would always sit at. So he says he wanted to go 'take pics' there, and I knew it was coming...but I also knew that he had asked my father permission earlier in the week.

So we get there, and end up running into one of his coworkers, who obviously had no idea what was going down, and she started talking to us about how her cat just died, just a kitten, after licking up antifreeze from a leaking car in the driveway and was acting weird for a month then just died. And I'm sure by now you all know what a crazy cat lady I am, so I was horrified, and FH was inwardly FREAKING out because he thought I was going to start crying and be upset and he wouldn't want to do it then. Luckily I kept my composure haha.

So we finally get to the bench, and we saw that it was replaced with a new one, so our markings were gone, so he said to do a new one, so i took out my knife and started playing around, and he went into his camera case to 'take a pic' and came out with the ring.

He just simply asked 'Will you marry me baby', no speech, nothing schmaltzy, kinda half bended down, and held the ring out, like a peace offering! He totally recoiled back like he was afraid I was going to knife him! It was too funny.

I think I just yoinked the ring out of his hand haha and said yes and then just stared at it. He was a little upset with me that I wasn't too excited or make a fuss, but I don't usually do things like that, and I knew it was coming. I feel a little bad now that he was upset with my reaction, but it was still wonderful.

God that was long.

well everyone knew he was doing it but me..they got me so good lol...so one regular day he asked me if i wanted to go to ihop on sat(i loove ihop lol)so i said yes and we will bring my neice katrina..he said we go bout 6 so that day im calling him he keeps giving me excuses why we cant go yet,i call my sister to go hang by her she says shes going out..i still dont pick up on it..so i go in the yard bout 7 pm to get katrina and wait for him and when i opened the gate he was on his knee with all my friends n family and my neices n nephews were holding a will u marry me sign..i was soo in shock and so happy at the same time..it was just perfect
