How did FH/DH propose?

Original post by sr081906

Here is how FH proposed.

I love shoes. We had talked about a pair of shoes I saw on NineWest web site. They were high heels 'gold' with sequins. He told me that a friend at work had discounts for Nine west but the pair that I liked was not available anymore and he got me 'something else'. I am thinking 'what the heck did he give me?'. I am so scared when people buy me shoes, clothes or jewerly.

Anyway, I open the box and see those shoes with 'bead things' on top. Of course, I say 'I would have never picked those' (FH had actually anticipated me saying that... he knows me too well!!). But being nice, I try the right foot. Now... I am trying to walk with that one shoe (don't know why!) in the living room. I tell him 'I really like those shoes'. Then I proceed to go to the next shoe and guess what I found. A liitle jewerly box. I open it (still only wearing a right high heel shoe only) and saw the ring. Hug FH! He then asked. I said yes.... then realized I am holding on to him for balance. Proceeds to try the 2nd shoe.

His plan: buy a pair of hoochie mama pair of ugly shoes, put the ring in the shoe, propose, return the pair of shoe

What happened:
buy a pair of shoe: $80
E-ring: $???
Keep the pair of shoes and see his face: priceless

Re: How did FH/DH propose?

It was a week before Christmas and he was off work and was coming into the city so we could meet his uncle and his gf for drinks. We happened to be going some place near where we met (in a bar!) so I meet him (after my cell died and I had to ask a random lady to borrow hers!) and he says 'Ray and Pauline are going to be late, lets go to the bar we met at and have a drink' so we do. So then he says 'lets go to the park' (Union Square Park, we met in May and sat there and talked for a whole night, but this Decemebr now) so I say 'ok I guess' and then we get into a minor argument about which bench we sat on. We sit and he proposes. I say yes and NO ONE NOTICED. LOL!!!

Apparently he was going to propose on Christmas, but everyone knew already and he was afraid someone would spill the beans!

Re: How did FH/DH propose?

It seems like so long ago!

We met in Manhattan for our first blind date and being that he knew he was abducting me from New York for the rest of my life, he decided to do it in the City.

We had tickets for the Producers and were going to grab a bite to eat afterwards. At the show, I saw him drop to the floor but thought he lost his wallet. Well, he didn't lose the wallet, he thought he lost the ring! He recovered it and we set off to Little Italy.

After the most amazing meal over candlelight, Frank turned to me and said, 'Lisa, Will You Marry Me.' I looked at him, looked at the ring, started shaking and said, 'Holy Sh*t!' Very Loudly. I cried for five days!

The restaurant cheered, champagne was served and we went to Ferrara's for canolli. The hostess yelled to everyone, 'she just got engaged!' I called my parents and the next day (to my surprise) Frank had my parents come out for Brunch. What a guy!

I had been suspecting we would get engaged, but didn't think he would do it when he did, so I had turned my engagement radar down that weekend.

DH and I enjoy going to the Opera, and we had matinee tickets to see the Marriage of Figaro at the Met on 2/12/05. How he was completely himself all day is beyond me! Anyway, after the show, I was under the impression we were heading back to Jersey to a friends house for dinner. As we were walking down the stairs at the Met, he grabbed my hand and said 'I want to check something out on the balcony' Clueless as I was I didn't think anything of it. We went out on the Balcony (we were the only ones there, the Opera house had cleared out already) and were looking at the fountain in the center of the courtyard. He started by saying 'Michelle, ever since you came into my life, I can't imagine you being not eing in it' I just looked at him and said .... 'Awww.. that's sweet, I feel the same way' Still, I'm totally clueless, he then pulled the ring out and said 'Michelle, will you marry me?' I started to shake and cry and kept saying... 'really?' finally I jumped on him yelling 'YES' So now everytime we're at the Met, or another venue at Lincoln Center, we always say... 'there's our spot' and will visit it.

It was the most surreal moment of my life (besides walking down the aisle!)
