How did FI propose to you

Its really slow at work

This is how my FI did it. He kept saying how he wanted cake from this one particular bakery. He proposed on Sept 13. During the week he kept telling me how he was going to order the cake. He called me at work and told he he ordered it and I asked him what did you get on it 'hands off' or 'Brians cake' he laughed. On friday the 13th he picked up the cake and told me he would be waiting for me to come home so we can have the cake together. I got home at about 6 and at 6:30 he said go slice up a piece of cake, because we have to go pick up my check and i want to go before it gets late. So I get up and go to the kitchen and in the fridge is this massive sheet cake. I take it out and while i am trying to cut the strings and tape he gets the video camera. i finally open the box and see 'Will you marry me on the cake'. When he picked up the cake he had put the box with the ring on the cake.

Its very hysterical. I looked at the cake, then looked at him, looked back at the cake, back at him, back at the cake and just started screaming my head off. I dont think i even said yes, i just screamed.

Dec. 18th we went to the city to see the radio city christmas show. after he popped the question infront of the tree. we have a picture it's not very good.

I picked Rob up at the airport. We got dressed up because last week Rob had told me that he wanted to go back to Pfiff (our favorite restaurant) because he loves their steak. I LOVE that place so I also really wanted to go. He made 6pm reservations and we drove into the city. Once we got to the restaurant, the owner was standing next to the bar, I had met her last week and she was excited to see us. She leads us to our table and right away I notice that there are rose petals strewn all over the tabletops. I just thought that she was trying to make the restaurant more romantic for a Friday night. Sitting on top of our table (the corner table...which we always sit at) is a bouquet of Lily of the Valley (my favorite flower). Rob had them flown in from Scandinavia. So I thought he was being incredibly romantic. He wouldn't admit that he had them sent there ;-)
So we order our Watermelon Martinis, and order dinner. As we are finishing dinner, suddenly our song comes over the loudspeakers. (I Love the Way You Love Me- John Michael Montgomery) This place is one of those trendy restaurants...not exactly a country music playing place. But I noticed that nobody else in the restaurant was fazed by this. So as the song is playing, Rob starting to softly sing it, and I started to cry. Then they bring out Crème Brulee (my favorite dessert) which is not on the menu...and Rob had them make it. After dessert, I Can Show You The World From Aladdin starts playing. Then Rob starts this speech about how much I mean to him, how much he loves me and wants to spend forever with me. He asked if I was ready to start an adventure of a lifetime with him. By now, I am bawling. he says...'well there is only one more question to ask you then' as he comes around the table and gets down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and he has this silver bell with my initials engraved on it. I am just crying and staring at it (it was the ring box but I was in shock). So he opens it and sitting there is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. three Dream cut stones.
So of course I said yes. Then they start to throw rice at us...every body in the restaurant was in on it. The owner had told people about it a couple of weeks ago and people came by just to watch him propose. They bring over a bottle of champagne...it was perfect.
Then...this guy comes in the restaurant in a Santa hat and sits at the bar and Rob waves at him. As we leave the restaurant, the guy in the Santa hat leads us to one of those bicycles with the seat on the back, covered in rose petals. Rob hired him to take us to the next bar, Underbar, (another favorite place of ours) where he has reserved us an alcove. The owner even came over and they sent over two of our favorite apple martinis. On the way there, he plays this CD of all love songs he made...and once we got there, he played me this DVD slideshow of pictures of us throughout the year...all the places we have been together...Syracuse, Baltimore, The Bahamas, New Orleans, Saint Louis, New York...it was perfect.

We had not done anything for Valentine's Day because I had a class on Thursdays that ran until 8:30 and we had to work the next day. So we ended up going to a restaurant and had a few drinks. I also told him not to get spend money on flowers, so we just exchanged cards on Valentine's day and decided to go celebrate V day on Saturday (the 16th) and go out to dinner. Well on Saturday, we were supposed to leave at 6pm and he shows up at my house at aroundn 5:50 (I was ****ed because I was thinking-doesn't he know I have 10 more mins to get ready-LOL ). So I open my door and there he is with three flowers. He says 'did you really think I wouldn't get you flowers for Valentine's Day'?. So he gives me the roses, he says the white one is for the past (he was my first boyfriend, we started going out when I was 13, he was 16 then we broke up 3 years later and we got back together March 2002; we were each other's first loves-he lives next door); the pink one for the present and the red one for the future. So I go upstairs and start putting the roses in a vase. When I finally get to the red rose(the future one) and unwrap it, my ring was attached by a ribbon to the red rose. I turned around and said 'you've got to be kidding'. He says 'If you'll have me'. Of course I said YES YES YES!!
I have never seen him so nervous. He didn't get on one knee but I didn't mind because i'm sure he would not have been able to get up. HAHAHAHHAHAHA

I know brian was probably a nervous wreck all day knowing that the cake was in the fridge and he was just waiting for me to come home from work.

Hey, I guess we get it back ten-fold with the wedding planning

We were celebrating our 27 month anniversary, and he never celebrated 27 months, it was more like, 6 months a year, but not 27 months. He kept making a big deal out of the #27, little did I know it was his favorite #. Anyway, I was suspicious all week, becuase he kept talking about going to the beach, I was like are you crazy it is freezing out. So, I went to get my hair done that day, knowing something was up and it could be the day he proposed. I got home and he showed up with his friend as a decoy, I wanted to kill him! His friend left and he went to his car and gave me a dozen red roses and said, Happy 27 month anniversary, he was acting weird , and he said lets go out to dinner, we went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant, no ring, I thought for sure it was going to be in the fortune cookie. Then we went to the duckpond where he first kissed me and he was acting SO weird, he gave me a watch and said, happy 27 month anniversary! I was like Oh Man! Why is he making such a big deal out of 27 months?! He said to me what does a watch do, and I said, tell time, and then he said that is right it is time, and he got down on one hand and knee and asked me to marry him. The I got my engagement ring, it is platinum, with 2 tapered baquettes and a pear diamond in the center.

These stories are making me all teary-eyed and thinking about my recent engagement on Feb 2nd:

First of all, Clay almost never plans stuff for us to do. He's a typical guy. Well one day he surprised me by telling me he'd bought tickets for us to go to the new Spy Museum here in Washington, D.C. He said, 'let's go on Sunday and maybe go out to dinner after'. That kind of made me suspicious - dinner on a Sunday in D.C.? That is not like him at all. I figured he'd propose in the restaurant or after. I was NOT expecting him to propose in the museum, but that's what he did! In the very last room of the museum was one of those scrolling signs that announces late breaking news. Clay had put a special message up there for me that announced his proposal. There were all these people standing there reading it, wondering what was going on, and as I read it too, I started to cry. I was so surprised! Then Clay turned me around and the ring was in a display case like it was an exhibit. There was a description card next to it, like all museums have for their displays, and it said something spy-like, something like, 'this sophisticated device is to be worn unconcealed by Ann....'
Then he got down on one knee and proposed in front of all these tourists! I said yes and fell into his arms and cried. What an awesome day that was......

We went to a Journey concert, and then back to the hotel. While I was in the shower, he covered the hotel room in rose petals and hid on the closet. When I came out of the bathroom, I followed the trail of rose petals and came around to the side of the bed. He had writtten, 'Will you marry me?' in the rose petals. I started to cry, and I turne around, and he was down on one knee with the ring...

We have wanted to get married since about two months after we met--sooooo needlessly to say we were 19 -- but on various occasions he had gotten me promise/pre-engagement rings--but really nice ones that looked like engagement rings which would've been fine for an engagement ring but no he has to spoil me:) lol
not that I mind! LOL
sooooo I knew he was getting ready to do something because the last diamond ring he had given he took back to 'do something to it' i thought he was getting it engraved or something-turned out to be a brand new one! ANYWAY-- i thought he was going do it on my birthday (11/30) or Christmas but since I am so annoying I would expect it-he picked a beautiful but random sunday afternoon. we had gone to church as usual in the morning and a lot of times on sunday afternoons we will go out with my parents to a park or beach to walk and just take pictures and enjoy the day--soo this day (10/20) we went to the Planting Fields Arbaretum and we are walking with my parents and all the sudden i blurt out (having no idea -) 'This would be a perfect place to propose' sooo My mom is like 'Would you stop it and let him surprise you' then my dad chimes in 'NOBODY IS GETTING MARRIED cut it out' obviously he was joking---so then we're walking along and we seperate from my parents and he's like 'let's go by the arches and take pictures (my favorite spot!) so he starts sweet talking me and i'm like 'why doyou sound like you are going to propose-cut it out-stop teasing me-'because he has faked proposed to throw me off because I am soooo annoying! lol so all the sudden he has me 'pinned' up against the arches and i'm like what are you doing-then me having to be a pain in the ass - i slap his coat and I feel a RING BOX! I'm like OMG He's not joking--he puts my hand away from his coat and is all sweet and says 'just listen' then all the sudden he is on his knee CRYING like a baby pulls out a ring and asks me to marry him!!!!!!!!!! I FREAKED OUT! I didn't even say yes--i was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!? OMG DO MY PARENTS KNOW YOU ARE DOING THIS?! @ this point the poor boy is still on his knee and he's like can I have an answer please lol he's so freaking cute i love him! LOL anyway-he's like OF COURSE YOUR PARENTS KNOW! I scream through tears YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I look over and my parents are behind the bushes taking pictures! Then we ran over to them and they were pretending they had no idea and all four of us cried and hugged together and then called everyone and their mother to tell them!! It was so awesome! i love my sweetie!

Ron asked me to marry him in NOV 2000.. I was like OK... We were having such hard times and I knew I wanted to be with him..

he got me this huge pear ring and I was like yuck.. I didn't even wear it and told no one.. Not even mom and dad.........

When things got better I told him I want a new ring and you to do this RIGHT!!

So we were christmas shopping all day in the city.. I was so beat.. but he took me out to dinner under the tree and then he said lets go for a carriage ride.. I said OK!!

While we were in the carriage he got all emotional and teary eyed. I was like are you sick.. He said NO THERESA ...
he pulled out the ring and said you have been everything I could have wished for in life. You complete my life. I screamed and the man turned around and said are you OK.. I said yes.. I was hysterical crying... I said YES YES YES.. and cried so hard. this time it was RIGHT and we were right in front of the tree in the carriage..

We went to mom and dads at 2am and they were screaming and SHOCKED!!!No one knew.. It was perfect.


I cant't wait to be his wife.....

Well after this story one might wonder why he still proposed LOL
My bday was 12/13 and he kept saying lets go see the tree and i was like 'NO way i hate the city to begin with and its going to be so crowded on a friday two weeks before xmas!' So he dropped that and tried to get me to go on thursday the night before and i was still like NO WAY i hate the city plus I have class and it will be late when we get there and so on and so on. So the weekend before this was turing in to a major fight( why couldnt i just go b/c he really wanted to see the tree, BLAH BLAH BLAH) so on sunday 12/8 he was going to the ranger game, before he left he said lets go to dinner when i get back and stop fighting so i said fine. he picks me up and i ask him where we are going to eat ( he was driving towards the city and i live in bayside, there are tons of places to eat in Bayside) He kept saying we are going where I WANT TO GO!!! so stupid me doesnt realize what were doing until we are at the 59th street bridge. i still had no idea just thought he was trying to prove it was not so bad going to the city.At this point i was laughing b/c i couldnt belive he kidnapped me just to see the tree in rockafellar center!!
So we get ther and we are looking at the tree and he says' through all this fighting did you ever think i wanted to bring you here to ask you sonmething?' i said No i never did why? And he took the ring from his pockert and asked me to marry him!!! As he likes to tell the story I cried for two minutes and giggled the whole way home!! I didnt say yes for quite a while !! :)
I felt so horrible after i realized that he was trying to make our enagagemnt special and i had to be such a pain in the ASS!!
