Ha, I got the same speech! He planned to propose on our anniversary but instead proposed 5 days earlier because he didn't want it to be his responsibility for that long.

ok so all of these proposals are so sweet.

A little background FH told me when he went away to college for the frist time that if we could make it through a long distance relationship we could make it through anything and man was he right. He also made a promise the he would propose to me on the day of his college graduation. So time comes around and FH finds out hes graduating college a year early.. im so happy that he's going to be home a whole year eariler then i was expecting. Its not like he was far far away he was only in westchester so i saw him at least every other weekend. So anyway.. graduation came and went no ring... so i started to bust his chops about it and hes like im trying, im trying.. mind you his parents didnt want him to work while he was in school so he could concentrate (must be nice huh) so he really had no money saved so i didnt know how he was going to buy this said ring.. so anway the summer comes around and we're going to stores looking at rings he wanted to know exactly what i wanted so i told him.

So about a month later for our 21st birthdays i bought us a trip to foxwoods so i thought wow this is perfect i got a king suite it was amazing... we had a great weekend.. still no

so now im getting really upset with him thinking wow whats going on we've already been together 4 years what is he waiting for.

Now its july and FH is starting the NYPD academy on the 10th and he said before i start i wanna make one last trip to Camp Collie (his grandmas house on a beautiful lake in PA) very peacefull and relaxing.. we go 2-3 times a summer cuz its a free trip...

so i have a feeling that maybe hes going to do it now?? so we made it a 4 day weekend we got there on thursday and it was raining all day just hanging out.. the next night comes around and its beautiful cool weather so we spent the whole day fishing and just enjoying each others company.. that night hes like im gunna set up a fire go shower n meet me out here it will be all ready when ur done.. so i shower and go to get dressed and figured hey im gunna snoop in his bag and see if hes got a ring.. so im looking and looking.. nothing so i was bumed but oh well itll happen sooner or later.. so i just throw on a old shirt and shorts put my wet hair in a pony-tail and head outside.. so he starts the fire and all u hear is the frogs cuz its so quite and hes pacing back and forth so im like nick sit down ur making me nervous and hes like oh ijust gotta put somthing in the shed.. so im like ok.. next thing i know hes like can u stand up? im like no i dont want it its late..and hes like just DO IT so i stand up and he gets down on one knee and i knwo he was talking but i couldnt hear a word he was saying i was freaking out.. and the frist thing i said was are u kidding? is this a joke? and then he opend the ring box and i said.. IS THAT FAKE??? and hes like no to all of it ... so will u marry me or not? n of course i said YES!!!

p.s. he was so nervous when he went to ask my dad he drove around the block a few times.. little does he knwo that my dad saw him pass the house everytime. and i told him if he proposed infront of a huge group of people i would say no cuz i get easily embarrassed!

Out of curiosity, how many of your FH's asked your father's/parent's permission first before he proposed.

Mine asked my parents about a month before so my parents and brothers knew I was getting engaged before I did and amazingly didn't say anything to me!

we should make that a new topic!!! I've been wondering that myself!

Ok so a little backround......FH and I have been together since HS, and he is not very good from keeping secrets from me, especially something like this. So he calls me and tells me we are going to dinner. At this point I suspect nothing because a Saturaday dinner is pretty normal for us, but then he tells me we are going to The Village Way in Port Jeff. Normally I wouldnt have cared about the resturant but I realized that we had not been there since our first date 5 years before. I still brushed it off as merely a coincidence. We went we ate and then my FH asked me if i wanted to have dessert. Me being the pig I am of course had to have cheescake. So I ask the waitress to bring the menu's so I can make sure they have cheesecake. The waitress is taking forever and I start to yell at FH like, Where is this women? What is taking her so long????? Of course FH is telling me to relax, blah blah blah. So this waitress comes out with the menu in front of somthing she is holding. At this point I go into panic mode and stop breathing pretty much. The waitress puts down the huge cheesecake in front of me that says will you marry me?? I look at FH and he stands up, gets on one knee and tell me he wants to spend the rest of this life with me. At this point I burst out crying lol, and of course say yes. Everyone in the resturant is clapping, and congratulating us. In the mean time I never put the ring on!!! I was so excited I didn't even let him put it on my finger lol. I figured this out soon enought though and it hasn't been off my finger since

Thats so funny because I was going to post a thread like this..all of your stories made me teary eyed..they were beautiful..
Heres mine

So i was on my 2nd cruise with my FH. He asked me if i wanted to go look at the sunset. Thinking nothing of it I said sure. So we went up to the top deck (the sky deck). The sunset was gorgeous and we were taking pictures of each other by it and then he pulled a box out of his pocket, opened it containing a beautiful ring, got downn on one knee and said 'I love you with all of my heart, will you marry me' I was in tears at this point and then he started crying at the site of me crying and asked a 2nd time and said 'so will you be my wife' I of course said yes..Everyone around us congratulated us and some guy even asked if we wanted a picture...

lol yea you should have seen his face when I accidentally walked hand first in to the wall. He said 'You crashed my new car' (he said he was either going to buy the ring or a new car) it was kind of cute but I can't help it if I'm clumsy.

FH were going to go somewhere for our anniversary. I had been having a really hard time the whole summer b/c of my mom being sick and whatnot so I didn't even want to go anywhere, but he convinced me that it would be nice to just get away for a little bit and enjoy a change of scenery. I'm an environmental scientist so he wanted to take me to see a natural wonder to take my mind off of everything and just decompress. He's a libra so he loves that stuff too. Anyway...

We decided to go to Niagara Falls to celebrate our 7th anniversary and enjoy an extended weekend together. We drove up Sunday September 24th and stayed at the Marriot Fallsview Hotel and Spa in a deluxe king whirlpool suite with a fireplace and a sweet view of the falls. Sunday night we had a magnificent dinner in a great restaurant overlooking the falls and he tried desperately to get me down to the falls while they were illuminated but everything went wrong, we got lost so after the lights shut off he gave up and we went back to the hotel- me all the while thinking he just wanted to see them up close. So the next morning we go out sightseeing and we go down by the edge of the falls where the water just spills over the edge. We're taking pictures and video and he puts the camera away. He gave me a hug and a kiss, looks into my eyes and says 'I love you very much.' Then he gets down on one knee and yells out 'Jessica Vito....Will you marry me?!' I was in shock but eventually through the 'Oh my God!'s I managed to yell out a 'YES!!!!!'. Then we kissed and hugged and the rest of the trip we pranced around on cloud 9. Everyone clapped and congratulated us. It was so romantic and so magical I wish I could go back and relive that moment over and over again. He's the best!

He had my ring custom designed and had them put 7 little diamonds on each side for the 7 years we've been together. He said one side was for me, one was for him and the diamond in the middle was for us....

With everyone having hectic schedules my FH somehow got a group of very important friends and family together to go on a cruise this summer. I was always hoping he'd propose but expected him to ask sometime this May when we both graduate (me from college, him from law school.) But, my FH decided a few months prior he couldn't wait any longer.
From the first day I kept making plans with everyone to meet for a group picture but it never happened because everyone, especially me and my friends, were always running late. So, on the second to last night my future-father-in-law stopped everyone from having dessert to take a group photo. We made our way to the steps and after the 2nd picture FH got down on his knee. It was wonderful having friends and family there. Plus, it was the night of the deck party, a favorite of mine. So, we PARTIED all over the ship till it was over.

I LOVE IT!!!!! that is such a great story!

i always knew i didnt want a 'vacation' proposal bc i wouldnt have been able to wait to get home and tell everyone!! i would have swam home or something - but you got the best of both worlds!!!
