I went to a wedding there and fell in love with it. It never left my mind after that.

appearance and the staff were KEY.

i loved how beautiful the swan club was in a windy rain storm. the staff was FRIENDLY and helpful.

some halls i felt like i was at a used car lot or that the staff was snooty and/or snotty.

it was the second hall we went to - and we were going to 'play hardball' and negotiate the price down. . .yeah right.

we walked in and I had tears in my eyes and FH and I were practically skipping around the place - every time we saw something new like a fireplace FH would point it out and i would practically squeal. . . we just knew!

i agree with the above statements about service - they were soooo helpful even though we were originally having a smaller wedding, , , which we completely changed when we saw 'our room' which needed a higher minimum . . . we loved everyone there and they kept offering us stuff - even when i went back with my mom and my sister everyone kept saying Hello to us and everyone was smiling its great!

honestly--we walked into the place....and FH and i looked at each other and just KNEW that was where we wanted to be married. can't explain the feeling....it was instant

then when we sat down with the banquet M. and he gave us some options and prices--it was a done deal. they gave us the most for our money.

Honestly, the minute we pulled up to EastWind I just had a gut feeling this was going to be the place. I loved the look of the Estate, the Inn where we and our guests would stay is right there also.

I also only looked at places that held 1 wedding at a time and loved the fact that Eastwind had 3 separate buildings to choose from.

Re: how did u choose your hall?

well, i wanted a place that only did one affair at a time (these were things that I knew going INTO it) and i needed a place that held at least 240 people comfortably-- so that limited me a bit... but I didn't go based on location b/c I liked everything from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden all the way to Atlantica in the Hamptons-- Of course, price had do to with it somewhat... I figured I could afford whatever I wanted as long as I knew it ahead of time and had a good amount of time to save money-- and that I could plan everything else accordingly...

When I actually WENT to places it was the feeling I got, the ambience, the pictures that popped into my head, the service, the reputation, the things I have heard about the place, the food, etc... but a lot of places I couldn't picture myself at-- I knew for sure that Flowerfield was my place because I began to cry (without even realizing it) as I walked in the front door-- and entered the first room which was the cocktail hour room... then, that was it. I even had appointments at other places that I cancelled because I didn't need to look any further.

I told FH that we were going to need to WORK and SAVE big time but that we could do it-- and we opted for the less expensive day of the week so that helped.

I love it there, I want to live there hahahah

Re: how did u choose your hall?

I started by looking at size and location and came up with a list of places that met my criteria.

We went to 4 places on Long Island. They were all beautiful but, the ones I liked best were in the middle price-wise. I liked the way the BMs made me feel and the way they sold their place to me. We went to one place and they had done such a great job selling that the next place was a letdown! The most expensive place I crossed off before I even heard the price, I got to walk into a reception and the place was a zoo because of the wedding that was going on. I couldn't find the person giving me the tour and she wasn't too overly friendly towards me.

for me it had to be on the water, for my mom it was important that she knew and trusted the place's reputation as far as quality was concerned, for my husband the only requirement was that he wasn't involved in the decision...

after looking at a few others and being less than impressed, I knew as soon as I walked in this was 'the one'....'cause let me tell you it certainly wasn't the price

we wanted something near the water and close to where we were getting married.

we chose it for the ambiance and the excellent service

also, the food was delicious!

I went to 2 places. The first one was in Staten Island. I always thought I'd get married there. But when I left, I didn't have that feeling. Then my cousin offered to take me to the El Caribe. They got married there and knew the Banquet Manager.

So we went and fell in love with the place. The price was exactly the same as the one in Staten Island but we got so much more for our money. The menu at the El Caribe is to die for. I felt that is the one thing you can give back to your guests, is great food.

So we went home and went over our budget and decided that it was definitely doable.

We got a great price, it's a great location and it's just absolutely beautiful since it was renovated. It was the exact feel we were going for. It has an old charm from the high ceilings, big doors, and wood beams in the ceiling, but it's also got modern touches- the tile floor, the beautiful draperies and bridal suite. And its set on a golf course....you can even see the city skyline a little bit. I love it!!

My runner up was in Suffolk county and FH did not want to have an hour drive (without traffic!!) on our wedding day (we're in Queens).

I'm in Queens too.

I wanted to keep it within a certain budget and within a certain proximity to Queens. When I checked their website, I almost knew it was the place for us. Although the budget had to be moved upwards, I think it'll be worth it.

when I saw the place, nothing else compared to it.

Re: how did u choose your hall?

i picked the hall with what i considered the prettiest ceremony space.

it was also most convenient for our collective guests to get to. All FH's guests are coming from Boston and CT. My guests are coming from Manhattan and LI.
