I was going to to a backyard wedding.. but the expenses kept adding up.
So I decided to go for a hall... something about the Hamlet Willow Creek REALLy struck me. I just had to see it.
And then I did. And I loved it. The price was right, the person I dealt with was friendly and professional. The place was new, clean and had a good vibe. They only had one wedding. They allowed me a low minimum and they had my date available!
Done and DONE!

Re: how did u choose your hall?
I wanted a place that did one wedding at a time. We also wanted a place with a nice view preferably on the water. It was actually DH's idea to check it out. We also loved the staff and heard amazing things about the food.

Re: how did u choose your hall?
we just fell in love with the place, can't really explain it.
there's a lake in the backyard, which we'll be looking at during the ceremony. i think that's what did it

One wedding, amount of food offered, location and price...the main thing was that we'll be the only wedding.

Re: how did u choose your hall?
It was the first place we saw and PERFECT in every way. One wedding at a time, the BM was amazing, extremely accomidating, the amount of food during CH is exceptional, it has the most gorgeous views, it's on the water, the place itself is just gorgeous!!!! BUT we couldn't afford it so we checked out about 25 places afterwards and nothing compared finally my parents said they would pay for it so we'd be able to have the wedding of our dreams...we went to book the next day

Re: how did u choose your hall?
Our search started with a few criteria in mind. First and foremost to me, was that I wanted to be the only bride. This drove FH nuts, so I agreed to look at a few places that did more than one wedding at a time, but in my heart I knew I would never select one of them.
First and foremost to the Italian FH was food. He wanted a place that offered lots and lots of it.
I eliminated a bunch of places on the phone b/c we couldn't meet their minimum. I eliminated a bunch of other places b/c I knew I didn't like them from searching with my sister (who got married in '04).
I knew I didn't want the LI catering hall look. It's just not my taste. I wanted something with 'old world charm'. I also knew that I don't particularly like the dance floor in the middle of the room breaking it in half. After all, a wedding is the joining of two families. Why is that as soon as the ceremony is over, you split up the two families into two different sides of a room??
I fell in love with one hall, but the price for what they were offering was so out of the loop from every other catering hall, that by the time I added all the a la carte stuff to get to a 'LI Wedding' it far exceeded our budget.
I kept looking. When I walked into the hall I ultimately selected I was in love in 10 seconds flat. The menu, the price and the staff were all added bonuses. As soon as we had our tasting, FH agreed that this was it. I booked it two days later.
Before visiting halls we narrowed our list down based on location (nassau county and manhattan) and price, then a ton of research was done online. Woodbury was the 4th hall we visited in person, and when we walked into our room we both had 'the feeling.'

Re: how did u choose your hall?
We looked all over at pretty much every hall on LI. We knew which ones we didn't want (family already had their weddings there or we have been there and weren't happy)I liked a few and he liked a few but they weren't the same ones. The last one we went to was NRC and we both walked out saying 'This is it, we love it'. The location wasn't bad for his family and mine and it was not too far from the church. The staff was so accommodating and the price was what we were looking for.

Re: how did u choose your hall?
Well I actually picked the last place that I ever thought I wanted to get married. I pass by the Coral house all the time because my fh lives 5 minutes from it and think I would never get married there. After we got engaged something inside me was like that might be the place. Well I made my appointment the only one I looked at actually and fell in love with it right there on the spot. Inside was beautiful and the price was right. The food was good too. I am so happy.

Re: how did u choose your hall?
We went all over looking at halls we we were interested in...walked around, got the lecture from the BM...went to East Wind-fell in love with the ESTATE... went to other places, but always kept going back to East wind in my mind-we loved everything about it..my favorite being the cocktail hour rooms and the big window in the hall...the amount of food is unbelievable ... I can keep raving... BUT the distance was a deterent... HOwever, my parents knew how much I loved it and we booked it!

Re: how did u choose your hall?
Close to home for many guests (they can take cabs if they want). Very affordable. Nice atmospher. Ceremony area was larger than other places. One wedding at a time. They had a Saturday night available five months before the wedding.

Re: how did u choose your hall?
I narrowed down the possibilities based first on general location (wanted to try to keep it North Shore LI) since FH is from Suffolk and I'm from Queens.... I called, made appts to a few-- LOVED the first one I saw-- we went back after checking out a few & I still love it----- the atmosphere and staff are GREAT!!
