How Did you and FH meet & Propose?

Not sure if there was a thread about this, but just curious. I love learning new things about you girls, I am truly loving this site and everyone on here! I'm Addicted!!!

As for me, I knew FH my whole life, he is cousins with my 3 best friends! and our familes are very good friends with each other. Our families always wanted us to be together but we had our own lives going, until it was his niece and nephews (twins) Christening and we started talking and danced a little. That night he emailed me and soon started talking on the phone for hours, and then dated now engaged!! Our families were right all along! It's so weird he was there all along. He is the best thing that has happened to me

FH propsed in Miami on the beach under the moonlight lol
until a miami cop comes on a 4-wheeler and asks if I have my purse???, this is while FH is down on one knee... like helloooo don't you see hes proposing lol it was funny.

Met my FH on eharmony and I just knew he was it after the first date. (How cliche right? lol)

He proposed at Caffe on the Green Restaurant on our 1 year anniversary by having will you marry me? written in chocolate on the dessert plate.

So romantic!

FH and I met when we were each out with our friends in Queens. A little more than two years later he proposed on the beach.

That is so funny! I have answered this post every time I see it but who doesn't love telling their story? I met FH at a party in my friend's backyard in 9th grade. We became best friends and finally started dating senior year of high school. He took me on my first camping trip this past summer. We went on a romantic canoe ride on the beautiful lake one morning and then we rowed over to a dock. We were standing on the dock enjoying the view and he was telling me how much he loved me. Then, he told me to close my eyes because he had something for me. When I opened them, he was down on one knee with the ring!

We met in Black Studies class at Baruch College February 2001 during the spring semester. I had been told by her friend that I would be in the same class and we should meet. After the professor mispronounced my name and I corrected her, I looked back to match the name and voice with a face to find me and she smiled. I would soon find that I would leave the class to attend to personal matters in another state. I noticed that I had been falling behind in the course and her friend suggested I call her and give her the class assignments. After calling and leaving I a voicemail with the classwork, she returned my call and asked if it was my personal number which she was calling and quickly hung up. Little did I know that for the next three months I would become one of my closest, if not best friend. We talked online a lot and after class we walked to the train station. On Sunday May 13, 2001, we went on our first date to the movies at Court Street Theater in Downtown, Brooklyn. Before the movie we ate at a chinese restaurant directly across the street from the theater that would soon close down, probably due to health code violations. Anyway, we then went to see the Mummy Returns, even though I had never even saw the first one at that point. We dated on and off for three months before we shared our first kiss in August 2001. After we kissed all we could do was smile as we looked into each others eyes. Six years later we're still smiling.

On Saturday April 7,2007 Justo asked to go out to dinner with me. We were suppose to go to SugarCane Restaurant, however it was packed that night so we ended up going for 'Bluffalo' chicken sandwiches at this new philly chicken place called High Steaks Cheese Steaks. After we finished eating our food Justo said lets go for a ride so we ended up driving to the Brooklyn Promenade. Keep in mind it was the coldest day of the year with snow flurries in the air, so I was not expecting a proposal. When we were walking through the Promenade Justo stopped and was looking over the water and started talking about our past 'I know we had our bad times however, lets start over with some good ones.' The next thing I knew Justo got down on one knee and proposed and I was in shock. I kept saying stop playing until it finally clicked in and I said yes. Remember it was cold as hell that night especially by the water however, when he dropped down on one knee I forgot about everything I was so happy and excited I forgot it was cold out.

We met through a friend of mine and his cousin, we just ended up hanging out all together one night and we hit it off. A week later we went on our first date and had a great time.....5 years later he proposed to me in the same park he had taken me for our first date

We met at Mulcahy's in 2001. Big Shot, the billy joel cover band, was playing, and he walked by at the end of their first set and I said to my friend, oh my god he's gorgeous! I think he planned the walk-by and I am pretty sure he heard me because he walked by a few more times. (He denies hearing me to this day.) We went out the next night, with friends, and then had our first real date the night before Thanksgiving, and have been together ever since!

He proposed in Savannah, GA on St. Patrick's Day 2007. He knew he was going to do it on that day in the city's biggest park, but he wasn't sure how - and then he read an article in the local paper about things people had done on st pat's in savannah. One guy proposed to his girlfriend on the steps of this big catholic church, in gaelic, while a bagpiper played nearby. He didn't want that kind of attention on him (soooo not FH) but he did steal the gaelic thing. We were on a bench in this awesome park and he said, 'do you know what ahn-booh-say-too-may means?' (that's the phonetic way to say it, no IDEA how to spell it in gaelic!) and when he told me it meant 'will you marry me' in gaelic, i had to ask him, are you asking me to marry you or are you just telling me what it means? I didn't believe he was actually doing it, and I totally forgot about the ring because I was soooo excited.

We met at Sutton Place in the city. I was out for happy hour with a couple friends and him & his friends came up to our table and we started talking. I lived in the Bronx at the time & he paid for the cab ride home for my roomate & I , then called me an hour later to make sure I was home OK. I knew at that moment he was a good guy. Then we went on our first date 2 weeks later cause I got sick, but spoke every day since the day we met.
He proposed to me on my birthday last September. We went to the wineries that afternoon, then when we got home he cooked me my birthday dinner. Then he went to his moms to get my birthday cake because he said it couldnt fit in the fridge. When he came back he turned out the lights & sang happy birthday to me, when he put the cake in front of me there were candles and a huge ring in the middle, and the cake said Marry me Jen. I was sooo surprised !

I met my FH through a friend at the times Aunt! We have been together for 10 years! And will be married on September 12th

Here is how he proposed!!

Charlie's birthday was October 11th. That coming weekend we were all set to go on a dinner cruise around Manhatten with his family and then stay over so we would have the whole weekend together! Due to the weather those plans got cancelled so we ended up going out to eat. I didn't notice or think anything out of the ordinary. Except my friend Joanne had mentioned I might be getting engaged that weekend. I shrugged her off saying no I don't think so. Besides, I always go out to eat with Charlie's family for his birthday. So I didn't think anything of it. Charlie came to pick me up around 7:45pm we drove to West Babylon to the Parkwood Cafe. The hostess came and brought us to the table. We had our dinner, nothing out of the ordinary. Then it was time for dessert! They whole staff came over with this cake singing Happy Birthday! Which I thought was for Charlie. As they were getting closer I could see the cake was pink. So, i thought to myself why is the cake pink? Not thinking anything of it I kept singing Happy Birthday and they sat the cake right down in front of me. I did not read the cake at all and pushed it back towards Charlie. Charlie pushed it towards me telling me it was for me. Still not thinking or looking at the cake I said 'But it's not my Birthday, it's Yours.' He told me to read the cake. Thinking it was for my Birthday (4 months later) I went along. I noticed the beautiful precious moments figurine and then my eyes fell onto the cake. Written in pink icing was 'Jenn will you Marry Me?' My mouth dropped open and I wasn't sure if it was really happening! His family thought I didn't see it cause the writing was a bit small. By the time I turned to my left to face Charlie he was already on bended knee with the ring box open displaying the beautiful diamond engagement ring. I was shocked and totally in amazement! I placed my hands over my mouth and I think I stayed like that for at least 5 mintues! Still kneeling he looked into my eyes and said 'Jenn, will you marry me?' I smiled at him and at this point I had tears in my eyes. I said yes as I knodded my head. He placed the ring on my finger and gave me a kiss. As I was showing his family the ring my hand was literally shaking! Not cause I was nervous or scared but cause I was excited and probably anxious! He defitanlety caught me off guard! Afterwards the Hostess brought over a bottle of Champagne and they made a toast! There was another birthday party going on and they even wanted to congradulate me! I am still glowing, still in shock! I feel like I dreamt this, that I am waiting to wake up! But it is real and it is happening! I'm on Cloud 9 right now! I think I am gonna stay there! I don't think I can be happier as I am now!!! I know our lives are going to be filled with lots of happy memories, and love that will last for the rest of our lives!

he proposed to me in wildwood NJ during hte sunset! he was standing in back of me and pop a box infront of me! when i opened it, it was empty when i turned around he was down on 1 knee!

at the time i was in such shock i didn't cry for months now as i type this ig et teary eyed!

We met through mutual friends... i thought he was a jerk at first!!

After 6 1/2 years and every holiday or special occasion passing by with no ring, I became very bitter during the holidays! Well this past Christmas Eve was no different so as I was getting ready for bed in my bad mood, FH calls me into the living room to check out the new ornament on the tree. I'm thinking, it's 1:30am, why are you showing this to me now?!?! And the ornament was the ring hanging from a hook! I kept saying are you serious because I had been fooled before! Then he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him and then he placed the ring on my finger! I'm not sure if the word 'yes' ever came out of my mouth. I just started tearing up and jumping up and down like crazy and calling people at 2am!

Some background info...i was dating a guy for 5 years and broke up with him on 6/29/04...he's not FH. Later that night i got a message in my email saying that i had a wink. I had no idea what this was about so i happened to be on the phone telling him that i was getting these weird things from a dating website. My friend then told me he created a profile on match.com for me. I opened the wink and it was Joe (FH). Thought he was adorable, started talking and the rest is history. So i actually met my husband the day i broke up with someone else. So much for vowing to be single for at least a year! Joe proposed a little over 2 years later after ice skating in NYC's Bryant Park. It began snowing and i was thanking him for the best and most romantic day we've ever had.
