How did you all come about choosing your wedding dates? Is it a memorable date for another reason? Is it your anniversary?

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
I REALLY wanted an outdoor Sept wedding. If we didn't go for our date, I would've had to move into Aug or Oct which I didn't want to do.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
We wanted June 4, 2005 since that was the day we met (9 years to be exact). But, as ya'll NY'ers know a Saturday evening reception in June = $$$$$.
Crest Hollow guy showed us how much $$ we can save by doing the wedding on July 3 (~$30/pp) since July 3 is a Sunday. Once we realized that the Monday was a holiday, well it was a no brainer. So we are getting married 9 years and 1 month after the day we met. Now, we have another anniversary to add to our list. The day we met, the day we starting gooing out...and OUR WEDDING DATE!

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
I am a teacher so it had to be in the summer. Also, I did not want august. Our very good friends (FH's best man and vice versa) are getting married July 3rd, so we had to give them more than enough time for honeymoon and everything.....and our hall did not have sat, so we opted for fri

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
Well, our birth date fall on the 16th. FH is July 16 and mine is Nov. 16. And since we like the fall season, that's how we came up with our wedding date. Plus, since our wedding date falls on a Sunday, we got a better deal too.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
I really wanted fall foliage for my pics, so we started off with 10-05-05. But when we went to the hall, it was quite a bit cheaper to push it November, which they consider an 'off' month. So we went for the first Saturday in November. Hopefully, we will catch some foliage, and it won't be all gone.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
We booked a month shy of 2 years in advance so our hall had lots of dates still available. I knew I wanted Feb. b/c it would be offseason ( cheaper) and we met feb. and got engaged Feb. so its a good month for us.
We went to the hall with 2 dates in mind.. then I realized one was my MOH's birthday and one was the best mans birthday! I felt bad doing that to either of them so the weekend inbetween their birthdays was either the 19 or 20th. Well once the person at the hall showed us Feb 20th is the sunday before presidents day and most people had off the next day, we knew it was perfect!

If you don't me asking, where are you getting married? The reception site we really like is expensive and may have to do it in the off season. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons.
I don't know if you were asking me, but as an 'off-season' bride getting married in March (and I hate that the halls use that term, like there's any season that's 'off' for love!) we're getting married at the East Wind on Saturday night. Usually, off-season is November through March. It also depends on the minimum you guarantee. If you have a big family and guarantee more than their minimum for the night, they can drop the price per head. I don't remember where I learned that, but it's true. Negotiate!! tell them what you're looking for - from what i hear, the halls will almost always try to work with you. good luck!

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
June 1- I always associated june with weddings, and my DH said the 1st, since it is the #1 day in June, I checked calendar and it was a saturday. Then I went to the movies and saw legally blond and one of the brides in the movie had June 1, it was all little signs. but I love it and how it is written on invites,

April 2 is our 5 year anniversary. I thought it would be romantic. It was also easy because it is saturday so it worked out great.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
1) Had to be the summer (I'm a teacher) 2) Wanted enough time between the end of school and the wedding AND enough time between the end of the honeymoon and the beginning of school which narrowed it down to late July. 3) Wanted a Saturday wedding. 4) Our band and Wolffer Estates were both available on July 31. Ta Da!!!

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
Well... I work in a school so it needed to be in the summer. btwn friends getting married and Bm's that are in other weddings the summer dwindled away quickly. we were faced with 4 weekends... we decided on this bc of the high number of OOT guests and thought it would be easier to do it on a weekend most people have off already.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
I orginally wanted June and my FH wanted Sept. So I gave in and went with Sept. The date that was given to us was the only Sat of Sept. 05 available. If I had I choice I would have chosen a later time that month.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
We picked our date for several reasons: it's exactly 2 years from when we got engaged, it will be my grandparents 56th wedding anniversary (what a blessing for us), we wanted a Sept wedding and we have many travelers, so Labor Day weekend fit best. We were glad the 3rd flew on a Sun instead of Sat. since we can save $ on the reception.

Re: How did you choose your wedding date?
WELL....here goes, we got engaged in July of 03 and new we wanted an 04 wedding. Spring was too soon and FH doesn't like to be hot so we couldn't choose summer. Fall was our choice but we both teach at night so it would be easier to take off after September so we chose October. I originally wanted the 2nd but to get the hall and the church together the 23rd was the only Saturday. Whew!
