How did you decide on your.....

wedding date?

We decided on may because i didn't want weather that was too cold or too hot & humid and I didn't want to wait for june. lol
also it fit us financially to wait till then.

As a May bride, I couldn't agree with you more on the weather thing. We chose our date for that reason. It also was great that we were able to get married on our 5 year anniversary!!

I definetly wanted a summer wedding and figured July and August would probably be too hot. I was worried about May and early June because of the rain. Then I realized June 21 is the first day of summer and it's usually not THAT hot by then and it just sounded right. I guess I picked my date totally on basis of the weather.

mine is kinda long but here it goes....
In January our family has 7 birthdays
Feb has 3 birthdays
we just dont like March
April has easter in 2003
May: Our Pick!
June has a few anniversarys already and my sister just got married in 06/02
July tooo hot and fourth of july
August: My sisters birthday, my birthday, my aunts anniversary, my uncles birthday, and my cousins anniversary
Sept...we just did not want to do Sept
Oct dont know, just never considered
Nov my dads birthday, my cousins birthday, my other cousins anniversary and thanksgiving
Dec: holiday stuff made us stay away from this.

So as you can see there is our crazy rational to our date. Plus I was really looking for a month that did not have any family anything already.
Edited to add: Plus we are getting married 10 days before our 7th anniversary!

I always loved and wanted a Christmas wedding. But my FH's entire family is from Nova Scotia and New England. We worried that the weather might prevent them from attending or getting home. We decided on an Autumn wedding, and the price of the hall was $5 per person cheaper the first weekend of November, instead of the last weekend in October so we decided to save the money. It was a good thing too because my stepmother's best friend's daughter is getting married the last weekend in October. They would have been SOOO upset to have missed either wedding.

I wanted October, but my FH has a tabletop show that month, which means he's pretty busy with work. So, we went with late September.

I wanted spring so the tulips would be in bloom. We first started dating in April, so that month has lots of special firsts & significance for us (it just occurred to me that coincidentially we started living together in April too, now if only he would have proposed in April...he proposed in June)

In the end, the exact date came down to what Lands End had available. We wanted to be as late in April as possible to take advantage of warmer weather and more sunlight.

We originally had a tentitive date of 6/15 at another hall but it never felt quite right...always sounded more like a time you'd wake up (6:15am) than an anniversary

Jennbaby...yep...and my wedding is outside...(my mom offered her house in Sag Harbor..believe me, it's like a country club) so we REALLY tried to pick a date based on the weather. June was definitely an option too, but the problem was that's full-season swing in the Hamptons and it would take all our guests about 3-4 hours (because of the traffic)to get there. We just couldn't do that to everyone.

we really wanted our band so we had to match them up with the hall and the availability of the room! so thats how we came up with sept 21st! it worked out great b/c i didnt want a hot summer weding and my family wouldnt allow may b/c of there superstitious reasons and the holiday seeason was out of the question!

I always liked the month of Sept. Didn't want to get married Labor Day weekend The next weekend is my brothers anniversary so we took the next weekend. Didn't want to go much more past then because of weather changes. I am having exactly what I want ..... an outdoor wedding and didn't want it too hot or chilly.

Originally we picked the last weekend in March - price-wise we felt it was better for us, but the room we wanted at Fox Hollow wasn't available that day and the next free Saturday was the 26th of April (well the 19th was free but it was the day before Easter).

I wish it were more romantic than that! Though I can say Spring has always been my favorite time of year! AND, I am thrilled that it's the weekend after Easter because my church puts up tall candles at the end of each pew and they will light them for our wedding!!!

I always wanted to get married Memorial Day weekend, but my FH thought it was too far to wait till 2004 cause we are older. He wanted 2003.

Well I didn't want to get married in the winter, i hate the cold. July and August are too hot. I didn't want to take away from my cousins anniversary in September. Besides there were holidays I thought many people wouldn't make.

October I didn't want to get married on anyones birthday as well as close to my own.

November 15, 2003 was perfect. It's not too too cold, and it's enough time before Thanksgiving and Christmas

when we got engaged, we decided to wait a while before planning. We planned to start looking after the summer. All along, I wanted to be married by summer 2003. A couple of other factors contributed to wanting to be married between 1/1/03 & the summer. When we found 5/25 available at Bridgeview, we booked it.

I wasn't wild about a 'holiday' weekend, but so far everyone we spoke is OK with us using a 'holiday' weekend - they are soo polite

as a teacher...i just knew it would be easier to get married in the summer...PLUS I just adore the summer...

when we found our hall...and had a list of available dates...we picked 7/14...(I wanted 7/4 but it wasn't available...good thing since we had a heat wave)...

7/14 is bastille day in France (like our 4th) and DH's father passed away before he was born - he was from France - so we picked the day to honor him...

I wanted SEPTEMBER but the fourth of july date popped up then I realized that I loved it because there will never be any excuses of forgetting an anniversary, we will always have off, and there will always be a party of some sort

We wanted a summer wedding because I'm a teacher and he starts law school in Sept.
The way we (or should I say my FMIL) picked our exact date is a little unusual. My FMIL is very into astrology and REALLY believes in it. She wants us to get married on our 'best' astrological date. We told her any time b/w June and August on Sat. or Sun. and she consulted an astrologist to determine our date based upon our exact time of birth. I do NOT believe in this at all, but we agreed to it just to make her happy. She is really a wonderful person and we get along great, and I knew this meant alot to her, so I was willing to do it. Thank god the hall I wanted wasn't booked for that day.
