Hubby and I both LOVE the summer time, long lazy days, sunshine, etc. Heck, we were living in one of the sunniest places in the country (CA). So, we got engaged in March, and automatically figured we'd need at least a year to plan the extravaganza from 3,000 miles away. AND one of my first cousins was already planning her wedding for February and we definitely wanted some separation.

So, we decided on June b/c we thought the weather would be a little warmer but not yet so humid. We considered early July, but it became the first weekend in June b/c we just couldn't stand the thought of being engaged for so long!

We wanted September but the hall was all booked for Sat. nights. The next available they had were Nov., Dec., and then 2004. But they had Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend still open so we chose Labor Day weekend and it actually worked out for the best since we have a bunch of out of towners, especially in the bridal party. End of August is still summer but also almost autumn so it worked out perfectly!

We booked the last Sunday in March 2004, the weather is pretty decent, the prices are cheaper, and no one in my family has a birthday or anniversary. We are so happy we booked right away because a lot of people want the date that we have!

Well, we were the last of 7 sets of friends to get engaged in 2001. Everyone picked dates in 2002. We had to squeeze ours in and still make sure everyone had enough honeymoon time.

We picked August because we both love summer, there are no anniversaries, and it was smack dab in the middle of the two weddings we had in July & October. We didn't want to wait until June 2003 to get married since we had been together 7 years by the time we got engaged. So we did it in 9 months - and it was the perfect amount of time.

We didn't want a winter or spring wedding..we wanted warm weather so we were looking for June or early September. The place that we chose had Sept. 6, 2003 available & we decided to go with it b/c it will be our EXACT 5 year anniversary to the day we met in Miami!!!!! =) I can't wait...it's going to be so special.....

I always knew I wanted a fall wedding (I love Fall in NY), but I'm a tax accountant so my busy season runs from 8/15 - 10/15. I didn't want to do it the weekend right after busy season, because I knew I would need a few days to unwind. I also wanted to make sure we were home from our Honeymoon in time for Thanksgiving. We didn't want to do it after Thanksgiving, because the weather is too unpredictable and the holidays were too close. That pretty much left 10/25 as the perfect day!!!!!

At first we had to settle on a date because that was the only date available for a certain catering hall that was available. We really wanted to get married on our anniversary which is Aug. 31. The date we got was Aug. 16. We booked everything (at least a year in advance), and then had to switch halls because of money problems. The good thing was that we were able to get married on our anniversary! It definitely was meant to be because when I called all of our vendors they were all still available which is rare because it was only 8 months until the wedding. It ended up working out perfectly!

For us it was a few reasons

1. Finances
2. DH did not want to go to Hawaii when it was
warm in NY

3. I have a son from a previous marraige and we
did not want to disrupt his routine too much, so
Feb 16th worked great for us

Well, FH didn't want to get married in the winter (Nov-March) . My brother is getting married in June (in New Hampshire) so we couldn't do them too close together. One of FH best friend's is getting married in Sept (the middle of it) so we were going to go with October (3or10th) but they got booked at JA's. We thought the end of Oct was too dark @night (to see the water) and too cold. We then saw that 8-29 was open and that is the anniversary of the day we met 3 years ago (4 from wedding date) so we knew it was meant to be

I wanted a spring or summer (my favorite season) wedding but my brother booked his wedding date (august of this year) a couple weeks before I got engaged. So to keep family peace I waited until after his wedding to have mine. I wanted a short engagement (less than a year ..we are headed into our 30's, saved the money and have been dating over 6 years) but wound up with over a year and half :( .

So I planned mine about 2 1/2 months after my brothers. I wanted early October but my hall booked fast and was stuck with the last week in October! So next week I get married. Finally. People say it goes fast but I didn't think so at all. I feel like it dragged. I don't recommend long engagements unless you have a reason to (like saving money!)

We picked our date for two reasons -

1. weather in sept is generally nice.

2. to coordinate with another big family event that would have been in south jersey. I would have felt bad making my family that lives all over the country come into the area twice in short period of time.

DH and I live in FL but we are both originally from up north. I have always loved the fall and it is what I miss the most about being up north so we knew we wanted to get married then.

As for our exact date we were originally trying to go a date like 10/10 or 11/11 (I just have this thing with numbers) but the next time a date like that would fall on a Sat. wasn't until 2003 and we just didn't want to wait that long, so we went with 10/5. (I'm weird I know)

Well our actual anniversary is June 27th, but we couldn't get that day.

We wanted summer and then when we realized that I would have a lot of out-of-town relatives coming, we decided to have our wedding over a holiday weekend, so the guests could enjoy being here for a few days.

Memorial and Labor Day weekends were both booked, so we ended up with July 4th. At least we will always have our anniversary off from work!

We wanted either Spring or Fall, Fall was not only more expensive for some reason, but we were worried about Hurricanes.
So we narrowed it down between May3rd and 31st.
We chose May 3rd first, then changed it b/c
1. Church was having a fair that day
2. FH was worried I would be depressed on our HM b/c of Mother's day (Mom is deceased)
3. He didnt want to just be getting back from HM for his son's b-day (May 16th)

So May 31st it is and we couldn't be happier

Neither one of us is a 'summer person.'
We both liked the Fall. We had friends getting married in July and October of this year. They were engaged first, so we made sure our date was after theirs. We both liked November. We didn't want to wait until next year. (We also met in the Fall 4 years ago.)

well, we both initially wanted a September wedding, but as we were looking around alot of places were already booked!!

It's weird, cause we were both so excited that we just wanted to do it right away, but being that we're both paying for this ourselves, with little or no help from either family, we felt that it would be too much of a strain to do it as soon as January.. SOOOOO, finally when we found our place we were had a meeting to book the place for the 16th of August..but just as we got there, the guy told us that the couple who had just left booked it that date, so we went with August 9 instead.. It's pretty funny cause our engagement party happened to have been on August 9 of this year..

I alwayswanted to get married around valentine day. Plus it is better for us then. Just hope it does not snow that day.
