How did you find your dress?

Original post by piyopika

I am a little scared now because I read on many occassions that the bride should order the dress 9-12 months before the wedding, as sometimes they take a while to come in, then the fitting etc.... so I plan on start looking when I come back from vaca in June

What are some good mags to look at styles? Where/how did you find your dress??

Re: How did you find your dress?

I looked through a ton of mags and started ripping out dresses I liked. They were all satin w/ lace on them....then I realized most of them were Amsale...so I went to a trunk show for the designer and bought my dress!

I definitely recommened looking through magazines and ripping out pictures of what you like. Bring them with you to the salon, but don't be afraid to try on different styles. What looks good on a 90 lb model doesn't always look great on us normal people!

I actually (please don't be mad..) but i used the Knot's Gown search to help me look at dresses.. It was the easiest way for me to narrow things down... That part of the Knot is great! I did the same with bridesmaid dresses... I was able to narrow by style, designer and price. Lets you get right to business!

LOL, why would anyone be mad
I am on the knot as well, that was the first thing the engaged/married girls here at work told me to do - to sign up on the knot!
Then I found LIW and that was the end of the knot, I still go on once in a blue moon to brows through ideas and look at pics!

Thats where I found mine as well my friends who are married told me about that site then I found this site and love the chats on here alot more and people are alot friendlier and helpful. The knot is good to look for things I found a few dresses on the knot then went to try them on and the f irst one I found on the knot was the one I went with. I also l ooked in magazines but it was very confusing cuz they were all so pretty

I looked online, just typed in wedding dress and a bunch of great websites came up. Then I went to RK Bridal and found my dress when I saw another girk wearing it! You have to keep an opne mind, because you dont want to limit yourself. I didnt want strapless originally, but I ended up getting a strapless dress!

Re: How did you find your dress?

I plan on looking at the end of July. I look on line and google wedding gowns. I also look in mags and here. I have a general style that I am interested in so that makes it easier when going into the store.

Good luck!
