how did you pick your wedding date?

having difficulty with it and was wondering, how did you pick your wedding date? TIA!

we wanted a weekend in july, and were open to any date. would have preferred a sat night, but my venue was already booked for the sat's in july, we did a sun night (after clearing with our families that the date would work).

is there a reason you're having difficulty?

We were flexible with our date for the most part & for what worked for our pocket. We wanted a Sept. October wedding & it worked out for us to get September ..When you pick your hall ask the price differences & they may sway you towards 1 date more than the other.

I knew I wanted more then a year but less then two years. I wanted a warmer month . I really wanted June or Sept but his birthday is June and mine is September so we wanted it to be different.
We decided on either 8/13 or 8/20. The venue was booked for 8/13 so 8/20 it was!

I knew I wanted a spring wedding, preferably in April. I went to 3 RH, and chose LM because they offered me a spring wedding date with a winter price pp.

I picked a season (fall), then narrowed it down to two months (october/november), then picked the day of the week I wanted (sunday), and chose from whatever dates the RH had that would fit into my choices!

I always wanted a Spring wedding. We preferred May, but the hall we booked gave us a great deal for April (winter price), so we went w/ the last weekend in April good luck!

I wanted a summer wedding and we knew we wanted a Friday night. I'm a teacher and thought June would be too much for me and FH didn't want to get married in August. My mom didn't want us to get married the first week in July and the following Friday was Friday the 13th so that was out. The third Friday was the 20th and that's what we decided on!

we were limited to may, june or july. I am an tax accountant so jan, feb, march, april, aug, sept, oct are out. and he is in retail so that throws out oct-dec bc of all the holidays. my friend is getting married in june so that ruled that out. I very much dislike may due to allergies so July it was haha. And 7 is my favorite # so we chose 7/7 :)

We knew we wanted a cooler month FH hates the summer. We met on Halloween so we thought Oct would be great but didn't want Halloween themed wedding. We both agreed we preferred a Saturday wedding. When we looked@ the calendar the 13th happened to fall on a Sat not only is that the reverse of 31 but 13 is my lucky # . When looking@ RH some wanted us to change our date but were positive that Oct 13 was the day it should be

FH is huge into softball so winter wouldn't interfere with his schedule, plus it's cheaper! So we figured if we are doing winter, let's make it significant and chose our 7 year anniversary to marry on

Well we were going to pick March 30 b/c that when we started dating and then found out thats it was easter the next day ..so b/c we are having an irish wedding we were going to pick 17th BUT its happens to be leap year ..so we picked finally the 16th!!!!

FH picked it....

we started dating on 5/4/08
we got engaged on 5/4/10
we are getting married on 5/4/12

He said why dont we get married on our anniversary! & it worked out!

Keep in mind June-Sept is usually 'peak' season so most places are more expensive at the time. It is also cheaper to get married on a Thu, Fri, or Sun.

FH and I knew that we needed a lot of time to save, so we wanted to give ourselves 2+ years.

We wanted either May or September, but when we realized that we could do Memorial Day and get a Sunday price with (most) people having the next day off, it was a no brainer for us! We got a month that we wanted and saved a bunch of $$

We definitely wanted a Saturday.

I wanted the temperate weather in September. Still warm, still summery, but not the dog days of august. Less rain. It's just all over more moderate.

Didn't want labor day
Didn't want my parents anniversary weekend (they're separated)
Didn't want 9/11

So 9/24 it was.

You may choose the time of year you want first. If it doesn't matter, let the numbers decide. Some months are significantly cheaper than others. May, June, Sept tend to be expensive. Nov, Dec, Jan tend to be less. Fri nights and SUnday days are less pp than Sat nights... you'll find the balance of things that works for you!

We wanted a September wedding and wanted the earlier part of the month and decided to go with a Friday, so that's how we went with September 7th. It kinda flows nice too lol

We wanted Oct/Nov and wanted an evening. After going to our RH we realized we could only afford a Friday..then after looking at the calendar (and both of us being teachers) we realized that a specific THURSDAY evening would work perfectly, bc it's a nat holiday the next day (vet's day) AND we saved even more money by having it in 'off month' on an 'off day'

I was told Sunday's were cheaper then Saturday nights but I wanted the feel of a Saturday night wedding so I choose a holiday weekend. I didn't want in the winter months or in the middle of summer. SIL got married Memorial Day weekend 2009 so I didn't want to pick that weekend. We also had to pay attention to Jewish and Catholic holidays. I decided on either Labor Day weekend or Columbus Day weekend. We went with Labor Day since Columbus Day weekend Sunday was 10/10/10 and booked 3 years in advance.

we knew we wanted october for sure. so when we started looking at halls we narrowed it down the 1st or 2nd saturday in october. both we're available when we booked our hall so we went with the 8th because 8's always been my lucky number
