Im having issues choosing a dress for my BMs because the majority of them are plus size with D and DD chests. My original plan was to do a satin A-line simple dress with the thought that A-line would be flattering on all shapes. I've been told that satin isn't right for plus size girls and that i should consider chiffon. I should also stay clear of empire waist because it will make them look bigger...
Can someone please steer me in some direction? Or offer ideas or suggestions to deal with plus size BM's?? Here is a dress i'm considering. Thanks
I think dress #1 would be EXTREMELY flattering. The thing with satin is that it's not the best fabric for anyone- you can see dimples and whatnot because the satin shine accentuates that stuff. However, with the advent of spanx and all of that, I don't think it's that much of a concern. Also, the bottom is not tight, and I think that's where it would be a problem.
Empire is usually very flattering on a plus size person. You don't have to worry about the belly area. If they are wearing undergarments like spanx, they won't look pregnant (which is the concern with empire dresses).
I think #1 is an awesome choice. Some of your BM's may be self-conscious about their arms, so if you would allow them to maybe use a wrap, or put a sleeve on the dress, it would be beautiful.
Trust me, they don't want their arm fat showing, and you don't want it in your pics.
I think the key is for them to feel beautiful, and that in turn will make them happy, and you will have a better time as a bride. Good luck!

I think the first one would be my choice. Dress # 2 is pretty but since you said your girls ar D/DD I think the top part will make them look bigger.

my girls are wearing a satin a line from davids bridals. 2 of my girls are a little bigger size 16-18 with DD. here is what they are wearing and they look great!

The only thing i was worried about with dress 1 is too much clevage showing and boobs popping out. i thought a top that's straight across would be better???

I'm a plus sized DD, so I can truly say that satin is NOT flattering, and spanx can only do so much to smooth out. Rolls are rolls and will still be obvious. Chiffon is a good fabric choice. Straight across tops are not flattering either, gives that uniboob look. The v-neck is actually nice, just make sure that the larger sizes have more fabric in the top for better coverage. Don't want anything popping out of the sides, front, etc. Scoop neck is nice also. I don't like halters, they make me look to wide across the top, same goes for strapless, hence the sleeves on my wedding dress.

Yes satin or anything clingy would not be flattering for a plus size lady. Chiffon is th ebest way to go. Now the next thing is ar ethey bigger in thecenter or in the hips & butts. If its hips/butts lower tummy then Aline is perfect if its the middle belly then empire would probably be better.

ASK, ASK ASK!!!!!!!
this is the BEST advice i can give you for your plus size BMs... i am one of them and i have been in bridal parties where the bride picks gowns that they 'think' we will be comfy in and it just doesn't work! i am a DD and any extra material on the bust will make them look larger on top... definitely have them try on gowns before you decide!!!! and go to places that carry larger sizes to get a better idea!!!

I have been asking them and showing them pics of the potential dresses. some of them don't mind the satin- my stubborn MOH is dead against it. Where can i find samples for them to try on?? I know Davids has large sample sizes, but every store i've gone to only has size 10-14. My MOH wears a size 20 and some of the other dresses were too tight on the the other BM's and you couldn't tell what might have looked nice.

I think you should take them shopping..Davids Bridal has the most sizes, and see what they feel comfortable with and what you think looks good on them...I did that with my girls and they were happy with my decision. They felt comfortable in their dress and looked beatiful

Try Alfred Angelo. They have separates that look very flattering and they have photos of models and in all shapes in sizes.

I think Alfred Angelo is a good idea....my long California gown was from there and it worked well.

Ok... I have enourmous boobs... and if possible, allow them to wear a bra. Strapless bras flatten larger chest and are uncomfortable. This is why you always see girls grabbing at their dress.
I like number one if not for that factor alone. I would also agree to try wedding center in commack. They have a ton of stuff

Re: How do i dress my plus size BMs??
It depends on the style of the dress. I had some plus size BM's and they wore satin....it was the thicker satin so nothing showed through and it flattered all of them. Try Alfred Angelo. This is the dress I had
