I had the same problem! I am a bad liar too so I usually just wind up answering even though it is so rude.

i agree that it is rude for them to ask that! i would just say something like 'don't worry about it, me and FH plan on taking care of it!'

Re: how do u handle...
ugh.. i HATE HATE HATE when people do that and people have. Or they've gone around the actual question trying to get us to tell them.
i just tell them what the owner told me, 'i'm sorry but i'm not allowed to say.'
Yeah that'll make them think a million different #'s but who cares.

Re: how do u handle...
for me its an easy question to answer, my parents are paying for the RH so I am not sure. but some people i don't want them to know my business so i just tell them its not their business. all the people that i told that too have had no problem with the answer.

That's exactly what I use!
Seriously though, it depends on the person. My close friends and/or family I don't mind telling. But co-workers and general acquaintances don't need to know.

Re: how do u handle...
I didnt mind when my co-worker and boss asked me only because they are both getting married.
Do you think them asking will affect what you might get as a gift or envelope?
I know some people who bring the card and dont write the check until the middle of the reception. Now thats just wrong!!!!!!!!

barb, you don't seem like the type of girl to hide your feelings....tell them to just add a few more zeros to the gift

Unless it is a close friend or family member, and even then, I consider it rude. Just tell them 'Enough' like the other girls said.

I was very mean. I had said $400 and I am looking for donations. That will stop all questions. Plus they will think you are crazy.

Re: how do u handle...
Tell them you are paying enough and dismiss them like that... It is no one's business but you and your FH or whoever else is contributing (parents etc). When I got engaged, co-workers asked me how many carats my e-ring was. I would never ask someone that and thought it was so rude. Some people have steel ones hanging under their skirts!!!
