I am concerned that some of my FIs family will show up in jeans or attire that is not fitting for a wedding. It doesn't have to be black tie, but formal wear. Do you place that on the STD or Invitation - I don't want to sound like a b*tch, but I would like it to be a more formal affair than going out to a club, with good food!

I would put it on the invitation - Formal Attire Required.
It's rather standard on invites now and I don't feel it's insulting at all - most guests want to know how formal or informal it is so that they dress appropriately.
