I called my future MIL by her first name and somebody told me that I should call her MOM.
However, it just doesn't feel right.
It makes me uncomfortable to call her 'Mom' She's going to be a wonderful and loved mother in law, but she is NOT my mother.
Forgetting what you call them now.....when you are married do you think you will address your in laws as Mom and/or Dad, OR by first name?

I've called his mother mommy for like 6 or 7 years. I don't call his dad anything really (we don't talk much) I guess I'd call him Mr. M.

Same for me. Anything I'd call them would just seem awkward, and they never told me what they'd like for me to call them, so I just say 'hello' and start talking.

for the first 3 years or so while we were dating i called them Mr. & Mrs. they asked me to call them by their first names, it took a little adjusting (FH & FFIL have the same first name). not sure if i'll call them Mom & Dad or not ... i guess if they ask, i will
FH has always called my parents by their first names, they're less 'formal' than his parents are. also not sure if that will progress into Mom & Dad either ...

We call eachothers parents by their forst names. Thats how they were introduced from the begining so it has been easy. I don't think we will do the mom dad thing because it would just be too weird.

I don't really address her as anything right now. I am sure in cards and stuff I will write to Mom but I don't really see myself actually calling her mom.

I call FMIL Mom and FFIL Dad. I still call my mother Mommy and my father Daddy.

I call my FIL's by name..once in a blue moon I call them mom & dad.. I can't get used to that, don't know why. It feels weird..

At this point I dont call them anything. Ive never been in a position where I would have to say their names...but once FH and I get married I will prob. call them mom and dad, tho it will take a while getting used to. FMIL calls her MIL mom, so i think she wouldnt mind if I called her mom, besides I call my mom Mommy and my daddy Papi, not mom and dad..so it wouldnt feel too weird

i got away with this for about a year with my fmil... and then once we got engaged she asked me to call her whatever i wanted... it was such a relief..because i would always have to find a way to get their attention without addressing them by name..... everyone calls my ffil popi....so i call him that now..and my fmil.. i call by her first name.

Well.I have this bad habbit of feeling awkward with certain people (not just his family) But I Do Not Call them ANYTHING!!! I wait until they look at me and then I start talking about whatever it is.... If it is a rare timeI need to call them and they answer the phone the 1st thing I say is 'Hi It's Dina' So I don't have to say Hi Mr Abc or Hi BOB.LOL
hah! i do the same thing! i would think his parents would want me to call them by their first names (mom and dad is too weird), but nothing's been mentioned about it so i avoid it all together. =0P
he calls my parent's 'mama and dad' - what i call them. =0)

I call my MIL 'Mom' and my FIL 'Pop'. Love them both!!! Granted my MIL in no way takes the place of my Mom, whom I love and adore, but I do love my MIL and think she is awesome so I have no problem with calling her Mom as well.

My FH has 2 sets because his parents are divorced and both remarried...so yes I will have 2 MIL and 2 FIL's. I call all of them by heir first names. The funny thing is my FFIL's name is HY so when I call it's like Hi Hy-so awkward!
