Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat/
Hi,I actually see a Sports nutrionist for this. I'm on a high protein diet...(at least 70grms a day) and low carb..no starch. I get my carbs for water based fruits & veggies. I have beeh doing this for a month & lost 2.5% body fat & inches. Let me know if you want more details. So far it's been working for me.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat/
Yup, increase protein and cut back on carbs in addition to cardio workouts and weight training. However, don't go Atkins on your body. Don't completely cut the carbs and don't stock up on protein. Also eat more little meals a day. I try to eat about 5 smaller meals. I eat less at each meal and I am not waiting for dinner to roll around, with grumblings in my tummy. You eat less this way.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat/
i too am thin...being thin you can still have body fat. this diet is designed to loss fat & define your body. The doctor said that 95% of lossing body fat is in your diet & not the excerise you do.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat/
You need to add weight training to your workouts. This is the key to long term or even permanent weight loss. But you need to train the propper way. You have to increase your weight each time it gets easy. You should be training each body part once a week if you want excellent results. This should be eased into if you don't already train with weights.
Talk to a trainer.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat/
I agree with diet being important. It is very important. Once I stop training, in a week or two, I see a huge difference, even thought my diet stays the same.eddited to say, I talk a lot about this topic, I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
Happy Bride is Absolutely right! I've used a nutritionist and a personal trainer for a few years, and I got totally cut (but not gross looking, lean with cuts) when I followed this STRICT diet similar to what Happy Bride described (however, I've been off it, and no more cuts
).But you also need to add the free weights and you'll loose body fat...the more muscle mass you have, the more fat you burn, even resting!

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
At one point in my training, when I was crazy, training at least 4 days of weights with 30min on these days of cardio, I HAD TO eat fast food, or lots of calories, I was burning everything up. I was so thin, I basically had a layer of skin and muscle for a stomach.I am not like that anymore, though. I found a happy medium. I'm not shredded anymore, so I look very healthy.
I train 3/4 of that amount now, and stick to a strict diet, at least during the week, and on Saturdays.
Writing about this stuff really motivates me!

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
I have been using free weighs for ~8 weeks now...concentrating on my arms (I want them really carved/cut) and don't see a difference. I am doing it about 3 times per week...should I be doing it more?I would love to also hear your typical day of food in this high protein/low carb diet.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
Here's my regime (that is when I'm being 'good', which is most of the time)Mondays: 45 minuets of weights: Chest, bis and tris
THen extra 15 min for abs
60 min. total
Tues: Run for 30 min
Wed: 45 min of Weights: for Back and shoulders
Then add extra 15 min. for abs
60 min. total
THurs: Run for 30 min
Friday: 30-40 min of weights: LEGS!!
additional 15 min for abs
Sat: Run for 30 min.
Sun: Rest
-----------------------------
I did this routine for almost one year and saw so-so results....
THEN, my life changed, I found a nutritionist who gave me a diet to follow, and absolutely no cheating allowed during the reduction of the body fat phase! And once I changed my eating habits and followed this routine...holy cow! I was a size 6-8, and I got down to a size 2.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
You also need to life an appropriate amount of weight for any muscle building...meaning, if your not struggling with these weights by rep. 10, then it's too light!

Kathy-Can you share a little bit about this diet...what would be a typical day. I have the discipline, I just need an idea on where to start. Thanks for the weights advice...I will try increasing the amount a little.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
Here's typical day of food for me:Breakfast: 3 egg whites, 1/2 slice of american cheese, and 1 1/2 cup of honeydew.
Lunch (4 hours later...I don't let more than 4 hours pass between any meal): 3 cups of lettuce and 2 oz. of chicken, Oil and Balsamic Vineger (sp?),
Meal 3: (again, 4 hours later): Usually it's a Zone Bar because I'm in the car, or I'll pick up 1/4 of tuna salad and eat that (the mayo isn't that bad for you, and when I do eat tuna salad during this meal, I skip my fat intake amount at dinner
Meal 4: (again, 4 hours later...but you guessed that!) 3 oz. Flounder, and 1/2 c - 1c.. spinach or some other veggie.
My nutritionist gave me this whole chart written out telling me exactly what foods I could eat and how much of each.
He also showed me how many calories and protein I need each day to burn fat.
What's so amazing is that it's just a simple science, and if you follow it, you'll change your body. But the very hard part is following it...I do get very edgy when I'm being SuPER Strict with the diet.

Re: How Do you Cut Body Fat
Susan, you should be careful about lifting weights for the same area 3 days a week, that might be a little too much. If you lift enough, get a really good burn (and of course are sore the next day, possibly even the day after that...god, do I have some stories about not being able to walk after my workout, or not being able to walk up my stairs because my trainer really pushed me the day before)...then you shouldn't have to lift weights for that same body part that often.Switch to another area, do shoulders, or legs on the other days, or back.
Let me know if there's anything else.
Over the last few years I've spent a FORTUNE learning about this stuff from many trainers and nutritionists.
You should also go for blood work before starting any strict diet, just to be sure all your levels are ok, like iron, etc.
