How do you deal w/ RSVP 'NOs'?

Original post by candybride123

I just got my first no from someone I was 100% expecting to come.

I mean, obviously I'm not going to call them up and be like, 'WHY DID YOU SAY NO'? but at the same time, will it affect our relationship?

I can't help but feel mad at this person, and I expect more to come, I mena it seems like that happens to everyone.

This is a local person who wouldn't have trouble giving a gift, so I know it's not the economy or anything...

It's also kind of annoying because I've gone to all of their events with generous gifts, so it's kind of like what's the deal?

Have 'nos' changed your relationships with anyone? Do no people usually give an excuse? this person didn't.

well actually NONE of DH's family came to the wedding. But there was no negativity in it at all, because we understood that they live all the way across the country and it would have been very difficult for them to travel. (I did still feel a little insulted tho - kinda like, it's your son/brother/nephew's WEDDING. Couldn't you have been saving for this all those months?) But really, we have a good relationship with them, so even though I'm kinda like it didn't damage anything.

The only other no's I got was from 2 couples and they told me why they couldn't make it, but still came to the Shower and even sent a wedding gift. Very sweet.

They might have something else planned, or maybe they are going through something private right now. Some of our no people didnt put an excuse, most did and sent a gift anyway. We couldnt help but to wonder also. Eventually they would tell us, and most of them had financial problems OR relationship issues.

ha - i'm actually hoping for a good amount of no's b/c our guest list has gotten way too big!!

Glad I'm not the only one! Anyone saying NO without an excuse is fine with me and will not change my relationship with them. I've had to RSVP no before but didn't give an excuse - life happens, you know?! Now, it would be different if it were my uncle or something, but a friend, nah...but that's JMO.

I'm also hoping for quite a few no's! I've had to RSVP no to quite a few events for different reasons. Life happens and sometimes you just can't get to every event.
