For those of you that only see FH a few times a week, how do you do it? Do you fear moving in together and not having your separate spaces anymore?

Re: How do you do it?
I don't know how I manage. we talk to each other several times a day but like Aretha says, 'there ain't nothing like the real thing.' FH freaks out more than I do, just today he said, 'baby, r u going to leave me?' I was like, 'W T F???' It's definitely hard. I think living together will be just fine but I'm certainly looking forward to at least 2 bedrooms because I love my 'me' time.

Re: How do you do it?
i'm taking a break from studing!! i am soo addicted to this site...Amanda this question relates to me a lot. FH lives in the bronx I live in queens...we can't really see each other during the weekday because he would have to cross the bridge meaning EZPASS and that is a lot of money for the summer months since we used the car often to go see RH's the bill came to almost 500!! we decided that as soon as i started school we will gonna see each other on weekends only...I usually go to his house for the weekend and stay there of course he hang out and stuff but its great!. It is hard not seeing him every day!! I miss him soo much and we do keep in touch! and we do web cam (oh yea). FH says that he can't wait to live with me and neither can i I think than when we live together is going to be great!!! but it's soo hard not to see your man!!! every day like some of the lucky ladies on these boards!! but i will see him on wednesday for the WM Shocase wohoo!

We have never lived together either, I know when we first move in together after the wedding we are both gonna have to adjust to living with the other but I don't think it is gonna be a huge issue. On the weekend we spend the entire 48hours together he either stays at my house or I stay at his.

It's sooo hard. But we try to find time during the week since its hard to wait for the weekends.
I dont worry about moving in together, because we have our own things to do- so I think we'll be fine!

Re: How do you do it?
Have any of you considered a trial run at living together before the wedding to get those initial kinks out and to be sure you can stand each other 24/7?
Sorry, this is just something I've always wondered since joining this site because I noticed a lot of you didn't live with your FH and wondered how you handled it. I know I don't handle it well when we aren't together for a few days.

Re: How do you do it?
i have no idea how we do it. we dont really live that close either, so its kind of difficult, and our work hours are so different. it stinks, but its been like this for 4 years, and probably will be unti next year or early 2010.
i cant wait to move in with FH. I do think at first it will be alittle difficult because we are not use to it, but i think we can work it out.
i guess you can say we have had 'trial runs.' his mom and her husband are not home that often so we usually stay there for the weekend, and i guess thats a trial run, and we manage to do it then. but who knows. i am pretty sure it will all work out in the end.

Re: How do you do it?
this is the type of reason why FH & I moved in together when we did. we used to live very close to each other. then FH moved to Port Jefferson to go to college for a couple of semesters. at that time he used to drive back to Brooklyn but we wouldn't always get to see each other because he also wanted to spend time with his friends. i went out to see him a couple of times & realized that if i could spend the weekend with him then we could live together. or so i thought. the first couple of weeks we lived together it was great. (because it was new) then we started getting into our own little habits that we had to work out. it was a little hard at times but i am so happy that we did before getting married.

Re: How do you do it?
When we first started dating I was working two jobs and going to grad school and he was working two jobs. So seeing each other on the weekends is all that worked for us and is all that really still does because of our work schedules for the past 4 years. We are just used to it, we do miss each other during the week.
I don't think anything will change that much when we move in together, we both recognize that we have other things that go on in our lives on a day to day basis, its just we are going to be more aware of it when we are living together. We should be moving into the house in February-that is if all the remodeling is done. This will give us time to adjust before the wedding

He lives right around the corner from me so I see him everyday. I don't think we are nervous to live together.

Re: How do you do it?
Before we lived together, we lived about 30mins apart. We went to school together and usually saw each other 1-2 nights a week. Then always on the weekends.
We absolutely wanted to live together before getting married. At first, I was hestiating but now I realize this was the best decision we ever made. Kind of like what Amanda said, it was great to work out all the kinks so now we know how to handle each other. People don't realize how hard it is living together. You start to notice things that you never did before. Like everytime I get up from the couch, Fh has to ask what I am doing....I tell him we live in 1000 sqft there is not much to do. haha!

Yeah, i have the habit of asking as well. It's bad. He'll usually say something like 'running away' and then walk to the bathroom or kitchen. It's such a stupid habit but can't seem to stop.
It's funny, we lived together at my parents so we figured moving into our own place would be the bees knees. It was definitely an adjustment at first and that really surprised both of us. Now we've settled into a great routine. He cleans the bathrooms and the litter box (thank god cause I hate doing both) and I do the kitchen, dining room, bedrooms and we share living room cleaning. He is still a slob and I'm trying to break him of that habit. Once in a blue he remembers to clean up after himself. I give him kisses and tell him he's a good boy hoping positive reinforcement will make it a habit for him.

my FH does that to me all the time. i will be on the couch watching tv & he will be on the computer & he will shout across the apartment asking me what i am doing. meanwhile if he would just turn his chair around he can see that i am watching tv. it drives me crazy. lol.

lol.. its all about routine. the only way FH gets me to change the litter box is by paying me $20. yes its totally worth it. somethings i have come to terms with. like leaving cloths on the floor. its not worth the argument anymore. other things like leaving a wet towel on my side of the bed i stop by just moving it to his side. it works.

Re: How do you do it?
before we lived together, i pretty much stayed at his place when he was still in college at hofstra. i would spend the weekends with him at first and then it turned into everyday because it cut off a half hour of my commute! but that's not the only reason. it was a lot different when we did move into our house together though. you need to get used to each other at first. i find it hard to explain and i know a lot of people go thru it when they first move in together, but it passes.

I 100% agree about living together first. I had my own apartment for two years, and a roommate for two years before that. Now, I'm staying with my Grams to save money and FH is staying with his parents. We've never lived together. We see each other on weekends and 2-3 nights per week. BUT, I definitely feel that living together before the wedding is a must. We will be moving in together next year. I'm not nervous about it, but I know it will be an adjustment.

Re: How do you do it?
It's funny. FH swore he'd never get married again yada yada yada. Said when we moved in together it just clicked. Said he just knew it would work between us because of how well we got along just the two of us. I'm also in favor of living together before marriage. Really glad we did.
