How do you feel about your in-laws?

How do you feel about your in-laws? Do you like them? Do they like you? Do you even care if your in-laws and parents don't get along?

I know ultimately its just you and FH .. but just curious to hear other takes on this...

I love his parents they are the kindest and most thoughtful FIL ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They totally love me too, which makes it even better!!!!!!!!!!!

My FMIL is a nice woman at times. She is very supportive and has helped us out when needed but I feel like she really doesnt care for me. FH says i am paranoid but thats what i feel FFIL is great. He doesnt say much but he is a really nice guy. I am very close to FBIL and all of his cousins.

Our families only met twice and the next time they will see eachother is at the shower

My FMIL is really sweet..a little annoying but I love her a lot. And my FSIL is the best!! If I could trade my own sister for her I would!(Me and my sister don't get along)...

But as for my FMIL.... Well I'll be nice just incase there are lurkers!

ETA: FFIL loves me as well, not sure how FMIL feels about me, but I don't care because I'm marrying her son either way.

And as for my parents, my mom agrees with me and my dad isnt really around enough to have an opinion of either.

I love my FMIL (FH's parents are divorced)!!! and she gets along wonderfully with my parents to the point where my family still asks about her and what she's up to. It's great!!!

I like my FILs and they like me and my mom. I haven't really introduced all my family to all of his family but his family reminds me a lot of mine and that's a plus. I love being around them.

How do you feel about your in-laws?

NOT GREAT.....it really doesn't even seem like they care that FH is getting married and they don't seem to keen on the whole merging of the families considering they're from the west coast and basically have no plans to see us EVER. It's honestly questionable whether FH's dad will even come to the wedding, which is really sad because theres honestly no reason for it.

Let's see, I love them as people and I think they are good people but some of the things they do and say literally makes me want to jump out a window. FSIL, I love.

I wish I had he relationship you other girls seem to have with FILs. Mine unfortunately is disastrous. FILs are off the boat jews and FH is their only son- I am the WORST thing that could happen to their family. I try very hard to be respectful and nice to them, but no matter what I do -it's wrong. I was raised 'if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all'...to them I am being rude by not joining in when they start picking fights with each other. FSIL is even worse- telling me to my face I am white trash and makes fun of me whenever she can get a chance. She feels I am stupid because I am nice to be nice. Thank goodness she lives in Florida, so I only have to see her about 2 times a year.

FH and I have been together for 7 years next month, and my family is soo excited with the addition- my mom calls him her 'favorite' out of her kids! But because things are so bad with his family, my family has NEVER met them (they were supposed to meet last year, and FMIL refused to let my parents into their house).

I wish I could have a relationship like the one you others write about, but in the long run- FH and I both know theres is nothing we can do about his family, and he defends me as much as he can.

(Sorry this turned into a vent)
