How do you know....

this is it!!! I feel like we could just look forever. Is any place ever going to be perfect???

We found a place this weekend we really liked....was it perfect....no....but had a lot of positives and most of the negatives could be fixed. Most though, not all....at what point do we settle?

i guess it would depend on what you settling on. if you dont see yourself happy in the house but dont want to look anymore i wouldnt take it unless you are able to change it to something you will love asap. what do tyou like about the house and what dont you like? are there things you can change? is it in a good neighborhood?

[I think a lot of it depends on what amount of money you have to fix the place up, after the down payment and closing costs... the house we settled on was by NO means perfect... half the house had wood panelling! Parts of the house were in awful shape... but we knew we had money to make whatever we bought into our dream house, so all we needed was a house we could both see potential in... not perfection... but, if you plan on moving in without doing serious work on the house, then you should be looking for something that really appeals to you now...but remember, houses look so much different with old paint and icky furniture... try to look past those things at the potential of the house

We are going back tonight with FIL to see what he thinks.

Some of the things we dont like are changeable however some are not. The location is just so hard to pass up...is that reason to settle? So confused!

Re: How do you know....

I would list your three most important things...
Ours were
1-washer and dryer
2-location! within 15 min commute for both
3-central air

So, we got two out of three (not central air), but 2/3 isn't bad Location was to us the most important factor.

I think you could also feel karma in the house. When we walked, it had an open floor plan and was very bright. The house had a cheerful fit to me- that was a big deciding factor. There were houses I walked into and took a deep breath and just did not feel the aura- I just was not supposed to live there.

We hated the house!!!

DH walked into the house and then right to the backyard!

We fell in love with the tree-lined street & neighborhood, the location and the size of the property. We figured we could make changes to the house itself down the road (which we've been doing).
